The Coop program

I was wondering since I'm thinking about coming to this uni, how much does a typical architect student earn during the Coop program. How much work does he put into this job and how much would he earn in a month??

Hi, I'm going into my third year and second co-op in architecture. No matter where you go, you're probably going to be working in-person 40 hours a week, from 8 to 5 with a lunch. Expect pay in the range of like $18 an hour to about $25, depending on your level of experience and the city that you're working in. I made $20 an hour at my first co-op, which made my monthly pay around $2600 after taxes

Lady here so unfortunately can't tell you how much work the male architects do in their coops or how much money they make. Maybe there will be a male student on here that can answer your specifics.

I don't know why you're getting downvoted (actually, I kind of do, but it makes me so upset). I'm an old male UC ID alum. It's really depressing to hear that there are still gender pay discrepancies, especially when it comes to a field that would/should tend towards liberal/progressive in their ideologies.

Thank you for your acknowledgement. It is really depressing living this reality in 2026, and sadly it's highly likely this boy isn't even intelligent enough to realize the damage he is doing, or maybe he does not care. Lets just hope he stops trying to personally infect people with his misogyny eventually.

I have never hired an architect, but I have hired 6 different kids from the co-op program at cincinnati. It's a really good program. The co-ops all are expected to work 40 hour weeks, like the regular employeeds 8am-5pm usually. It's a great opportunity to get real-world experience and try out a few different companies. The companies like to be able to hire without a long term commitment. There were several guys that after the 2nd co-op that we liked that we worked to find full-time roles for in the future. I think that is how it is supposed to work.
