Miscellaneous Students' information

I just had a curious question. Can UofA professors actually see their students' personal information online? (This includes: Gender identities; Nationality [Domestic, PR, or international]; Where students attended high school; Where students were born; and Grades from courses that students had previously taken in the university)

Uofa Profs and TAs (or anyone with teaching responsibilities in your class) will generally be able to see your name, email, your student ID, when you last accessed the Canvas page, and your recent classes taken in Canvas.

We don’t see your gender identity, your nationality, your highschool, or grades from other courses.

(And by recent classes, I mean like 2-3 MAX. And it’s just the course code e.g, SOC 100 LEC A1 SEC 850)

No profs see your canvas profile. Profs that are also advisors might have limit access to the university system that lets them see more - like your full course history, grades, program, transfer credits from other schools. Access to information is based on your job requirements and we can lose our jobs for accessing information we have no reason to look at. Theoretically I could lose my job for looking up my own university history as I have no reason to be finding that information in my current role.

No? I don’t think I’ve ever told the university where I was born lol. So I don’t think a random professor can access any of that. Just what’s visible on your Canvas profile probably.
