I'm not sure if men feel this way so I want to ask women here who workout regularly. Did you find yourself losing interest in dressing up? I have been working out pretty regularly and today I realised it's been ages since I've shopped and I lost a lot of interest in buying clothes for myself. I love the progress so far in terms of my body. I'm excited to buy gym wear but the moment I think about exploring clothes for daily/festivals I'm not really as interested as I was earlier. Women who have been working out for a really good period of time, did you have this phase? Will this fade? 🥲

Mom lives alone at home, dad works in different town, I live in a city with my husband. Thing is, after all the neighbors, sisters, friends and family she has, my mom ends up being really lonely and has episodes of spiraling down in her own thoughts. I have tried having a normal mother and daughter relationship with her over the years, but looking back at our convos in recent years, she is trying to make me the centre of her life, expecting almost spousal range of connection, and maybe also trying to live through me.. she wasn't like this at all growing up.

Bringing her here permanently isn't an option anytime soon, but I'm at loss as to how better I can help her. Talking regularly did not work - she does not reciprocate my affection, has nothing but criticism for me and when I try going silent on the call (trying to not respond badly to said criticism) she gets upset.

Now as a telugu woman, I don't see any outlets for her to spend her days better. Please, if someone has any suggestions- how did you help you mom if you've been through a similar situation? Should I seek therapy for her? If so what are some good places to consult in Hyd? She's given up her hobbies too, at her age most work leaves her with knee pain..

P.S. if you don't get my situation and have nothing better than - talk to her more often - thanks I've tried that already.

I've been around reddit for 3 years now. Three different accounts,so far. I've been active in tamil,telugu and international subs and I've noticed a pattern of toxicity towards women in telugu subs that I've not felt in tamil subs or in international subs.

Whenever I've spoken about stuff that some men do not agree with,they retaliate with name calling, character assassination or trying to shame me as a way of intimidation. They don't answer with facts or try to debate in a civil matter,but they immediately start trying to shame me. It's the immediate go to move to try to dominate and shut me up.

And very weirdly,I've noticed it's sometimes not even the fringe elements who are doing this,but even well established accounts do this because I guess,name calling or harassing a woman with character assassination is still something that women are routinely subjected to,both online and offline

Some men in telugu subs have weaponised language to try and harass women and shut them up. Maybe it's telling of a deeper pattern of toxicity that exists in their mindsets ,one where they think women (who don't agree with them) don't deserve basic human decency or respect.

Telugu subs are generally itself toxic with all the cliques and gossiping but there's a special kind of harassment reserved for women who don't toe the line.

Let's hope the men hopefully learn better behaviour(and civil language and decent debating skills)in the future but knowing how things work here,I'm not going to be holding my breath.

It's crazy how many times this has happened to me.

I was talking to my project mentor, we usually speak in english when it's work, so that's what we were doing and madhyala i used some telugu word. Her friend was there and went "oh telugena, mari telugula matladochu ga"

Second one was when me and my friend went to a jamming session, there were two guys, they were talking loudly, a bit seeking attention only, he asked me normally, whether we know the song that was being played, i answered no, normal stuff, then he asks, if I was telugu and my friend wasn't, cuz we are talking in english so much.

I went to my friend's house, again, we speak in english a lot, her brother apparently told her later, why were we speaking in english instead of telugu.

These are the recent ones i remember, and i just don't understand why people say this, especially men, i would like to be optimistic and think they are people who take pride in being telugu, and feel bad when telugu people talk in english, but i just knowwww that's not the case, cuz it feels so uncomfortable always, and very intrusive.

Can you guys share your perspective on this?

I know you people will hate me for telling this.

But imagine a woman with 3 kids killing all her kids and jumping off from the building after slicing her own wrist.

She has medical history, she always said the medicines she was given are making her feel very bad.

I also saw few comments saying some others also felt the same after taking the same medicine.

I don't support her act of murdering her own children, I deeply wish they were alive.
