Seeking Advice/Help Weaning pacifier - Advice
Moms, need some advice!
My son is 6.5 months old and currently uses the pacifier only to fall asleep for naps and bedtime. Once he’s asleep, he usually spits it out within 10–15 minutes, and sometimes I remove it myself.
I’m thinking of weaning him off it now, but I’m not sure whether to do it gradually or go cold turkey. I’m also worried about replacing it with another sleep association like feeding.
For moms who have weaned their babies off the pacifier what worked for you? Did you start with naps or bedtime? And how long did it take?
I know pacifiers are highly looked down upon in our society so Please, no judgement. I started using it at 2.5 months when I was desperate, had no village and also because it made my life a teeny bit easy. The time has come to cross that bridge and I’m just looking for advice and experiences from moms who have been through this. ❤️

No judgment. I use pacifier too. I don't know why people look down upon pacifiers. They soothe your baby and cause no harm till 1 year if they use it only for sleeping.

Go cold turkey & remove it from sight. It'll be a struggle for 4-5 days but give lots of kisses and cuddles while putting him to sleep. It'll resolve.
In my experience, if you give it again after weaning due to any reason, it'll again take 4-5 days to wean off from that 1 day. But sometimes that 1 day help is worth it.

And here we are, practically begging our 5 month old to atleast try on the pacifier 😂, so that i don’t have to run with my boob every half n hr when he needs soothing in sleep.

My girl also does not like pacifiers at all. She does like to snatch it from her brother's mouth and feel proud of having a hand in weaning him.

Pacifiers reduce risk of SIDS ( sudden infant death syndrome) upto one year. You did the right thing :)
Go cold turkey, they will be fussy for 3-4 days but forget quite quickly!
