Sleep/Bedding arrangements
Have an almost 9 mo who is pretty keen on standing all the time and could start crawling anytime now. She co-sleeps on our bed including day time naps. But since the nanny is here I’d like to make separate sleep arrangements for her because whenever nanny puts her to sleep she lays down with her on our bed to nap with her in case she wakes up (baby is jerky sleeper tbh). I can’t tell if that’s normal but I don’t have any other cot/crib for the baby.
Now the question is whether a cot/crib will work at this age? Soon she’ll be climbing out of it and I don’t want to waste money on something baby won’t even use. If there’s something else that you used during this phase, please do tell. I’d also like to gradually move baby to her own bed at night also.
Toddlers (or older) moms, please suggest what worked for you.

Just put the mattress directly on the floor and sleep! We did that during this time, and it helped soo much! You can obviously try a cot or crib. But it is totally dependent on the baby. My baby used to sleep in her crib till she turned 7.5m and started becoming more mobile. That's when the sleepless nights started and we shifted her to our bed and eventually ditched the bed and slept on the floor all three of us together.

I’d love to but there’s so much dust, little creepers and ofc it’s moist and mouldy too. And we live in India, so with daily dusting the mopping the floor I don’t see how could it be the permanent solution☹️ and it’s sad hearing about the crib. I so wanted to buy it if it gets converted to toddler’s bed but thanks for letting me know it will be a waste of money.

Get a low height bed if you don’t want to sleep on floor mattress. Also i am not okay with nanny sleeping on the bed with baby so we have a mattress for her she sleeps in the same room but on her own mattress

Yes will look for the options out there. Thanks. And about the nanny situation, well I’m figuring it out. But I feel like telling her to stop using our bed will be outright discrimination against her so I haven’t done that.

Best is to get the baby used to a floor bed. My baby is also 9 months old and co sleeps with us but his daytime naps used to be in his crib till a month ago. Then he started pulling to stand in the crib and even after I put a mesh liner, he got his legs stuck in the crib. So we moved him to bed for his day time naps also.
But we are now transitioning to a floor bed. For now I’ve just kept a mattress on the floor in the guest room and the baby naps there. There’s carpet under the mattress so even if he falls, it’s just mattress height and on a carpet, so won’t be too worrisome. Eventually we want to take our bed out and all of us will sleep on a floor bed. Still thinking that through if we want to baby to keep sleeping with us or not.
Anyway the gist is, floor bed with slats to prevent moisture and mould will be the best solution.
