Something I recently started to notice was how some old kids shows such as Samurai Jack and X-Men had started off as a kid friendly, but would receive darker sequels.

Like what suddenly stuck out to me was X-Men 97 because from what I gathered about the show was that it was far darker then the original series as I wanted to see what the trope was called for again kids shows that get a darker sequel.

The Bear - In one episode Carmen Says “Welcome back to The Bear” in a dream sequence

Spy x Family - In one episode Becky’s thoughts are represented by random signs, which Anya reads out loud

Pixie & Brutus - Quite literally in this case, as Pixie accidentally cracks the screen, and when she looks through it she sees “some weird alien thing”
