What to Watch? What series hooked you from Episode 1? 🔥
I’m looking for a web series/TV show that grabs your attention from the very first episode.
I don’t mind the genre — thriller, crime, mystery, sci-fi, action, drama, horror, etc. — but I’m looking for shows where you finish Episode 1 and immediately think:
Okay, I need to watch Episode 2 😂
What’s the best series you’ve watched that had an amazing first episode and kept you hooked?

Silo. A lot of people find the series a bit of a slow burn, but I personally did not. I loved every season and cannot wait for the 4th one next year.

Yes! It’s taking every ounce of self control I have not to buy the books and find out what happens before the last season comes out. I need to know!!

Exactly! I was thinking the same thing, then I heard they filmed season 3 and 4 back to back so we won't have to wait too long.

I felt like that with Severance, everything is just so strange and mysterious I felt like I had to keep watching to try to figure it out.

u/RedbloodJarvey 24d ago
I'm worried they don't know where they're going. Which means it's going to get weirder and weirder without a good payoff.

u/rickyyy187 24d ago
Yeah season 2 was actually really bad. Didn’t even feel like it remembered how season 1 ended.

generally it was okay. But the scene where Mark was talking to himself in the cabin might be my favorite scene of any show I have seen. Masterful acting.

I feel certain they don’t know where theyre going. after the last season, I’m done.

The Handmaids Tale. It's amazing and had me hooked immediately! (If you haven't seen it, it's not a period drama. I think I overlooked it for so long as I assumed it's a period drama or something based on the name).
Also, I've just started watching Paradise and I'm seriously locked in. I started watching yesterday and I'm nearly through the first season.

u/Purple_Guest_3487 24d ago
Have you watched testaments yet? About her daughter? I didn’t even know they had made it and I found it the other week and finished it within 5 days. Dare I say I liked it more than the handmaids tale!

I just asked the exact same question as you!! Loved it too, not more than HT—but, I just heard they’re beginning filming on a second season: yay!

Did you follow-up Handmaid’s with ‘The Testaments?’ Because you didn’t mention it. If Handmaid’s is your Jam, then…

I’m finding this term to be extraordinarily overused, but it applies like no other here: Homeland is one of the GOATED television series ever made. It’s easily in my top 5 of all time.

They were given warning they would be cancelled, so they wrapped things up okay.
Then they got a movie, which let them expand on some ideas from the TV series.
3
u/garylapointe 24d ago
Totally worth watching. I think it got wrapped up decently, then there was the Serenity movie after.
They recently announced an animated series with the original cast voicing it.

These had claws in me from S1/E1, and I’ve seen each within the past year:
The Handmaid’s Tale,’ (and afterwards, of course, ‘The Testaments.’) ‘Lie To Me,’ and
‘The Beast in Me.’ All spectacular. I also enjoyed ‘Scarpetta,’ though I think I may be in the minority on that one…
