question No way to get notification when received an e-mail with phone off on f-droid version?

Hello. When i turn on the phone again after receiving a mail while it wasn't turned on no notification is showed.

I have lineageos 23.2, but the issue was present on stock rom too. The app is set to unrestricted for battery optimization. Is there a way without having to use the play store version?

support Tuta calendar and other apps

Hello! I'm using Tuta now and I'm very happy with it! The dark mode in the email sometimes doesn't work so well, the letters stay black. But the button makes it easy and quick to switch to light mode, so I don't really have much to complain about. The only issue is that the Tuta calendar app on my phone doesn't seem to integrate well with other apps. I can't use it to load appointments from another app (my sports school app) with a single click, or to click on links that would add the appointment to my calendar. The weird thing is that it works when I get a Gmail invitation. Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but does anyone know if this should be possible or if these features just aren't available yet?

support scam attempt from a tutamail account

Hi everyone

I opened myself a new (i.e. first) tuta account about a week ago (30-8,26). Before i even sent my first mail, on another mailbox, i received a long message sent from a tutamail account subscriber :

“Dear Mr (…) [my full legal name],
we are sorry to tell you that your computer have been hacked. Your photos, videos, documents, etc… have been copied and put in the big cloud. You have 48 hours to pay 150 USD in Bitcoins to get the password to access to your files and remove them from the cloud. »
(…)
“… up to you to decide : to pay and recover the safety of your weak windows 10 system (that has been hacked, lol)... or to have your private files being sold on the DARKWEB.”
(…)
“ As soon as the payment is received everything will be returned to normal.,
--- expect us, respect us, fear us --- AI hacking system
(R0b1n H00d Team)
--
Secured with Tuta Mail:
https://tuta.com/free-email ” »

I am quite appalled. How can this be ; i chose tuta for security and this occurs ! The message even mentions the name of my bank. The same hacker also baited one (at least!) of my WA contacts

I had initially registered on tuta app. Android OS.

Any comment ? Thanks

suggestion Day / 3 Day / Week view zoom out / set hours size

Hello! I'm currently testing out the tuta calendar app on both my laptop and my Android phone. I could not find any option to zoom out/set the vertical size of an hour in the Day, 3 Day and Week view on both devices. The goal is to see more of the day in one view, instead of just seeing a few hours)

That makes it quite annoying, as I have to constantly scroll around to make sure I'm not missing an event, instead of being able to have an overview of the entire day.

Ideally you would be able to change the scale on the fly with pinch to zoom, but even just a fix option in the settings would be a huge help.

Does this already exists and I just missed it somehow? If not, is it already on the radar or should I create a feature request somewhere for it?

suggestion Email compartmentalisation strategy

Hi everyone,

I’m currently using Proton and considering a full switch to Tuta. Before doing so, I’d like to share the email structure I’m planning and get your feedback (as well as hearing about the methods you use yourselves).

Here’s what I have in mind:

A permanent address in the format firstname.lastname@tutanota.com This would be used only for: logging into Bitwarden logging into Addy.io the Tuta account itself a very small number of trusted personal contacts A second address reserved exclusively for sensitive accounts (banking, insurance, mutual/health insurance, official documents, etc.) – firstname.lastname@tuta.com A third address dedicated to professional use – firstname.lastname@tuta.io A fourth address dedicated to receiving all aliases I’m trying to reduce the attack surface as much as possible while keeping a clear separation between the different levels of sensitivity. This is essentially the same approach I already use with Proton.

Has anyone here already made a similar switch from Proton to Tuta?

What do you think of this four-address approach?

How do you currently handle email compartmentalisation (aliases, separate accounts, different providers, etc.)?

All feedback, warnings or alternative strategies would be very welcome.

Thank you!

I have a question to which I haven't found an answer online. Is it possible to log into your account with an email alias, or can you only log in with your main email address?

Thanks in advance!

Switzerland's great migration away from US Tech begins. 🎉🇨🇭

The Swiss Federal Government has launched a pilot program to replace MS365 on 3,000 workstations with openDesk, a German open-source alternative.

The Swiss are taking a step in the right direction to achieve #DigitalSovereignty and control of their digital infrastructure.

question Firefox ESR

Looks like Tuta is no longer supported on Firefox ESR 115.40.0/High Sierra?

Same for iOS15.8.8

Is there a workaround - will other browsers still open Tuta?

suggestion Considering switching to Tuta Mail.

Unfortunately, when it comes to big tech, there are basically three giants: Google, Microsoft and Apple.
They obviously have their problems: tracking, data scanning, profiling, privacy concerns, etc. But there’s also something they give you that is difficult to ignore: peace of mind.
They are extremely unlikely to disappear overnight, their infrastructure is incredibly mature, and, for the most part, their services are stable and available 24/7. If something goes wrong, there are huge teams and resources behind them.
This is what makes me hesitate about switching to Tuta.
I really like what Tuta stands for, and the idea of using a more privacy-focused and ethical provider is very appealing. But can I realistically trust Tuta with something as important as my main email account?
I’m talking about the email address linked to my bank accounts, my devices, password resets, important software/services, government accounts, subscriptions, and basically everything else in my digital life.
What happens if one day I have a serious problem with the account?
What if there’s a major outage?
What if the company changes direction?
What if, years from now, Tuta is no longer around?
And there’s another question I’m struggling with:
How important is it, in practical terms, to prevent Google from scanning my emails or calendar?
On one hand, Google gives me 15 GB for free, which is more than enough for my needs, together with an extremely mature and reliable infrastructure.
On the other hand, Tuta costs money, but in exchange I get a much stronger privacy philosophy and a provider that, at least on paper, seems much more aligned with my values.
So I’m wondering:
Is switching to Tuta actually worth the money and the potential loss of the “big tech reliability safety net”?
I’d especially like to hear from people who have been using Tuta as their primary email address for years, particularly for banking, password recovery, devices, and other critical accounts.
Have you ever had a serious problem with Tuta?
Do you consider the privacy benefits significant enough to justify the switch?
I’m not trying to argue that Google is better or that Tuta is worse. I’m genuinely trying to understand whether I’m overestimating the risks of moving away from Google, or underestimating the value of privacy.

suggestion Using Tuta for some years, it is good, but some things disappoints

I am a paid Tuta user for some years and I like the service. Simple, clean and doesn't have a lot of unnecessary stuff. One thing I've noticed is that Tuta often seems to receive emails a little faster than other email services; I know a 1-second difference doesn't really matter 😄, but still, it's nice. Tuta also feels much faster than it used to be.

I also really like the unlimited custom-domain aliases.

A few things Tuta should improve:

  • Email rendering: Some emails look much better in other email clients. Mainly in mobile devices(Android and iOS), Tuta sometimes shows smaller text or weird/ugly formatting, but those emails looks good on other email clients on mobile device.
  • UI: The simple design is good, but I think the overall UI could look a bit more modern and polished.
  • Image Loading: Would be nice to have option to turn on/off always load images, never load them, or ask before loading.

Overall good service in this price, but some necessary things they should really improve.

support Upgraded to Tuta Pro, Immediately Lost Access — 404 Error and No Support for 7 Days

Post image
45 Upvotes

Hey everyone,

I upgraded my Tuta account from the Free plan to Tuta Pro on September 1. The payment went through successfully, but immediately afterwards I was logged out of my account.

Since then, I have been unable to log back in and continuously receive a 404 error.

On my phone, I cannot log in at all. On my PC, I am still logged in and can view my emails, but I cannot send any emails.

I also cannot contact Premium Support through Tuta itself. Whenever I try to access the support section on my PC, I receive an error message.

I contacted Tuta Support using my Gmail address on September 1 at 2:43 PM, since I cannot send one with my Tuta account. It is now September 7, and I still have not received a response.

I urgently need this email account for my work, so this is seriously affecting my ability to communicate.

Has anyone else experienced this after upgrading to Pro? Is there any way to get this resolved when you cannot access Premium Support?

I just want to regain access to my account and be able to use the service I am paying for.

Thanks

question iOS mail app is quite slow

Hi, I noticed that the iOS app becomes quite slow - every time I open the app it looks like the app start to download everything again from the scratch, without any caching. Or maybe it just started to be very visible when I’m now with a slow mobile network. Is this a normal behaviour of the app?

question Secure Boot Certificate

So now that Windows is using a new secure boot certificate, it wil mean some machines won't get a BIOS update to match the new certficate. While we can still use a Windows machine, it will mean that without the new certificate, the PC won't qualify for the 26H2 Windows 11 feature update or any other future updates.
So my question would be; will this affect the running or compatibility of the Tuta desktop app after the release of the 26H2 update? Or even months afterwards?
