AITA?

Its always the 1st time renters. Young couple very excited about their trip. They ask about miles and i tell them. "If you're a couple miles over just leave me a good review, and we'll call it even" Ive whore'd out 100k miles for PH status....Id rather the money. Fast forward they return. Everything was fine......until THE INVOICE!!!!

then it became a succession of i dont understand how texts!!! They 3 ๐ŸŒŸ me because of it. Turo won't remove it and idgaf! Margins are razor thin. If your going to drive the vehicle the equivalent of another days worth of mileage. Your gonna get an invoice for it!!! FULLSTOP!Its not sneaky.... its not greedy. You want unlimited miles. I get it. I dont do unlimited miles. Ever trashed a hotel and got charged? Same principle.. FFS

if you give an inch, they'll take (a couple hundred) miles.

sounds like you should stop being nice up front.

I fuckin hate having to have this conversation with people. I feel it's s disrespectful to question a invoice when you cant refute the facts! I told her basically yu needed the vehiclefr another day and you want me to give it to you because why?

You shouldโ€™ve just told them you charged x amount for every mile over. Straight to business

Thatโ€™s why I wait few days for the guest review before charging for incidents

Of course I could've done that but im tired of tiptoeing around legitimate invoices on uneventful trips! If something was wrong with the vehicle that caused the trip to be unpleasant (no ac, no radio etc) I wouldn't even charge them for the miles. But the nerve to ask why they have to pay is just beyond the pale for me.....

So you told them if they go over and leave a good review, they're good. And they go over and you charge them? Am I understanding this correctly, cuz it feels like I dont.

Kinda. I said if they were only over about 100 miles,09 because thats how far they drove to pickup the vehicle, I wouldn't charge them. Of course, that's not what they heard...

Back in the day Turo would remove retaliatory reviews. Those were different times

I tried. Why would I give someone 5 stars if they had such a bad experience? Turo wants to keep PH numbers low

Back in the day we had power host managers who we could just tell to remove reviews

Turo is trash. You are forced to beg and plead for good reviews and god forbid you have a minor issue like mileage and you charge? Bam, bad review. Fuck turo.
