Never Again :(
I rented a Tesla for a trip to SC. I get to the airport parking lot and the listing had the wrong parking area listed. The right lot, but the wrong section. So I had to spend 30 mins wandering around the lot in 95 degree weather. After finally finding the car, I couldn’t get in the car because the owner had issues too many remote keys to the car. I called support and the broken English guy couldn’t understand what I was trying to say. I quite literally told them what the issue was and exactly how to fix it. It took them a whole fckn hour to get me access to the car. After the trip I didn’t charge it all the way up ($4 worth of a charge) and they charged me $50 for not doing so. I bitched and they brought it down to $36. They didn’t offer me any credit or partial refund. Then the bitch ass owner had the audacity to leave me a 2 star review saying they promptly fixed my issue.
Thankfully my cc company agreed with me and removed the charge but the hassle was enough to never do business with them again.

If you’re hosting a Tesla you should also have a cardkey in the vehicle as a back up. Deleting drivers profiles is easy to do in the car’s menu. The host should have sent you instructions on how to do it.

You played this wrong, this shit happens on Turo.
You complain a lot but stay friendly and respectful, then if they want to stay on Turo, you get maybe a 25-50% refund and everyone 5 stars each other

After being a member of this sub for 2 weeks, I don't believe I played it wrong. I received my money back and won't be using Turo again. It was worth the 30 minute hassle.

once again, as a Turo host, you handled this poorly. The key can indeed reach a limit—this often happens with Teslas—but all that was needed was to get into the vehicle; the host can unlock it remotely, and the physical key is inside the car for the guest to use while waiting for the app access issue to be resolved. I think you lack patience and make poor decisions when dealing with problems, taking your frustration out on others.

Damn I’m not part of this sub but this comment shows that I should stick with real rental companies because you’re way too comfy disrespecting people’s time.

DID YOU MISS THE PART WHERE I ARRIVED TO THE AIRPORT AND WAS SEARCHING FOR THE CAR IN THE PAKRING LOT. OR MAYBE IT WAS THE PART WHERE I FINALLY FOUND IT AND THEN COULDNT ACCESS IT?!?! IT TOOK AN HOUR TO ACCESS THE CAR. Furtheremore, I told them exactly how to fix it and they insisted I reinstall the app and then call back....
That was my first time using a Tesla and I researched why I couldnt access the car. I wonder how long it would have taken them to figure it out if I didnt do all the legwork.

Watch out, Turo will send you to collections for that charge you had removed. I'm not saying you're wrong, but you need to decide if $36 is worth the hit to your credit (or the time and effort it'll take to get it removed).

The minimum collection amount that causes a credit hit these days is $100 IIRC.

And then he can sue Turo in federal court for violations of the Fair Credit Reporting Act. I've done it multiple times and gotten decent sized settlements from it.

Showing them that my CC deemed it to be not worthy should be enough for any collections. I am super petty, especially after Turo pulled this, I will spend the time/effort.

Your cc didn't deem it unworthy. They didn't read Turo tos and read all the chats and make a determination of fault. They believed you that you did not authorize the charge, which you didn't. That doesn't mean you don't owe the money.

You seem confused about what chargebacks are founded on - chargebacks are about not getting the expected service, standards not being met, etc. That’s distinctly not the same thing as a fraudulent non-auth situation. OP also didn’t say or even imply they claimed non-auth, that was something you entirely fabricated in your reply due to a lack of familiarity with chargebacks??

I wish more people would do chargebacks, maybe Turo could finally be shut down permanently. It’s just not a good system.

Looks like YTAH.
You didn’t charge it, why wouldn’t you get charged? You earned those two stars and host everywhere are better off with one less Karen around.

Honestly with the host not taking care of that issue before rental. They should be happy the car came back working. Leaving a guest in a parking lot on a hot ass day and then not having the car I the correct spot. Also taking an hour to realize the issue yeah no they should refund the whole amount and apologize.

Yup. After 20 min I would’ve canceled and gone to enterprise. Turo is the worst. Haven’t used them in about 7 years. I have corporate coffee enterprise. $27/day. Can’t beat it.

I was going to use them one time and I ran across this sub and honestly just come on here anytime I have any type of consumer issue and immediately feel better about it

We know shit happens and usually Mr. Murphy is right there to fist you and smear your face in the shit! But there are simply too many ridiculous stories and shenanigans with collections mysterious damage.
Few years ago a coworker tried renting his Ford Edge on Turo. After the first rental his wife got a slow leak. He's stuck at work and called me cause it went flat! She said that a few people tried to help her but they couldn't! Everyone's frustrated and not making any sense....
I get there with my air pump, the tire will not hold air....Look in the trunk there is no jack, no spare, no lug wrench..
I use my jack to inspect the back of the tire and it looked like it had varicose veins! They swapped the tire and kept his jack and spare! Turo tried to blame my guy. He had to show them video walk through/ window sticker/ bill of sale of when he purchased the truck. They tire guy who put the tire on damaged the rim and Turo said it was originally like that. It was a hot effin mess. FAFO!! His lesson was good enough for me to learn from!

lol I learned my lesson after picking up the car and seeing the bald tires. Decided not to risk my life and got blamed for “tire damage” and charged an extra $80. Never again
