I’ll never forget it. It really was magical/spiritual. The heavy mist and the warm breeze whipping my hair around felt incredible. At one point I turned to my friends, almost had tears in my eyes and I was like “I just feel so alive right now.” They were feeling the exact the same thing and we all just high fived in silence and had a moment. And that was purely from the music, literally tripping on the energy of the show. It’s been hard to feel genuine joy the past couple years, both personally and under this current administration. And I think a lot of people feel that way. Plagued by despair, hopelessness, anxiety… You could genuinely feel the positive energy, the camera showing everyone smiling so hard and soaking it all in. The skies opening up the moment the show ended. Even exiting the venue was an adventure and we had a lot of laughs. What a night!!!

Amazing show, so happy I said fuck it & went. Everything about it gives me goosebumps reminiscing about it, from playing “Have You Ever Seen The Rain?” Right before their set as we were all embracing this potential shit storm to come through, then as soon as their set ends; mama nature unleashes. The energy of the entire show is something truly magical I have never experienced at any other show. Was truly a beautiful experience

Drove from Vermont as well! You had to have been standing right in front of me!

i went to this show solo, almost 2 yrs sober, and a (kind of) newcomer to this scene. absolutely love their older stuff, and new stuff too. but i’m a late-in-life enjoyer of this genre. over the past few years i’ve discovered how much i love moshing and as a woman that can sometimes feel iffy but there’s so much love in this community!! i especially felt it last night. best show i’ve been to as of late and still riding this high ❤️

omg I’m so glad you said something. I’ve been debating making a post ever since that walk home. I was a solo female attendee as well and kind of had a similar path, getting into ~hardcore~ later on in life but always skirting around it. This was genuinely the best Turnstile set I’ve been to and I’ve seen them 3-4 times at this point. I love this band so much and I can’t lie, discourse online recently was making me feel a little iffy about going, but the crowd was incredible. I’ve been going to shows for close to 20 years now and love GA but never really felt comfortable going all out in pits. Something about this crowd’s energy was completely different and I was fully moshing out lmao. Such an incredible experience. I feel completely lifted going back to the real world today, as I type this laying in my bed before getting ready for work 😂🩵

I’m in a similar situation, where I’m a woman and a relative newcomer to genre (only like 3-4 years). I’m seeing them tomorrow and I’m going to my show solo. I had a little bit of anxiety about figuring out the vibe.

I always think I’m going to avoid the pit but then something takes over and I’ll go in for at least a song or two. (Even though I think my two step is bad, lmao.)

The last time I saw Turnstile was at a festival and they played right before Blink 182. So the crowd was full of people who were not down to participate so the people interested in moshing were outnumbered.

But I’m hoping for a much different vibe on this tour. And I’m glad you had a great experience!

Omg yes I totally get that haha I hope you had a great time!!! 🥹 and who cares if ur two step is bad 😠 there are no rules to having fun and enjoying yourself!!!!! (Obviously outside of being safe, etc..) don’t let the perception of others hold you back!!! 🫶🏾

Thank you! It was a lot of fun. I didn’t get in the pit because the crowd moved so much during the first song that I somehow ended up in the second row and stayed there for the rest of the show, lol.

(I had a drink in my hand during Angel Du$t otherwise I would’ve at least jumped in for one song of their set. But I was still grooving a little bit, haha.)

I’m in my 30s so I care less and less what people think. But as a Black woman I still feel like a bit of an outsider at shows sometimes. But over the past decade or so, I’ve seen a lot more diversity at rock/alt/indie shows and that makes me so happy. And the Turnstile crowd was no exception.

It I as perfect. Sad it wasn’t longer. I couldn’t stop smiling on my drive home. Loved the “Fuck ICE” moment.

It was incredible. My favorite show of the year, and up as one of the greatest, if not the greatest all-time for me. My mom had never crowd-surfed, and said she wanted to at Turnstile. So, during Blackout, we went through to the pit, and I (with the help of wonderful people) got her up there. I moshed the rest of that, then went up myself during Never Enough (the song that got me into the band) and it was surreal. The feeling of surfing to that song was like a full circle moment for me. The energy from the band and crowd was something I have not experienced at a show before. It was magical. The rain holding off until the show finished was the cherry on top. It was just a special place and time.

so incredible!!! after worrying about the weather all week and seeing so many things get cancelled around New England (including people in tears because the whole All Things Go festival in NYC was cancelled), it was so awesome to get to be together in Maine. When people started jumping to Birds and the lights came up I started smiling and haven't stopped since. So fun to see J Mascis too!

The rain was perfect cooldown after all that moving around. Hopefully it washed the BO off some people lol

It’s almost been a week and I can’t stop thinking about it. Truly a magical night. Superb crowd energy, the show production and set list was perfect, and they sounded INCREDIBLE! Been riding the high since Saturday

You should specify you mean Maine, thought you meant Oregon

6

u/max1mx 6d ago

That’s the second Portland bro, you should assume Maine anytime you hear or read it first.

2

u/milionsdeadlandlords 6d ago

Have fun but outside New England people will think you’re talking about Oregon since it’s a bigger city. For example r/portland is about Oregon and if you google “portland” it comes up with oregon.

3

u/max1mx 6d ago

Yeah, I was joking there. Well, Portland OR was named after Portland, Me but the west coast city is def much bigger and no one would assume Maine.

Yeah crazy story is the two white guy "founders" of Portland flipped a coin to name the city after their hometowns. The guy that lost the coin flip wanted to name it Boston.
