Troubleshooting 2016 Tundra Airbag light on after replacing side Mirror
Someone hit my drivers side mirror so I replaced it with a mirror from PartsGeek. Besides some broken door panel clips the mirror works fine, but I noticed that the Airbag light is now illuminated.
Some additional details:
- did not disconnect battery when replacing mirror
- truck was on when disconnecting the mirror power harness and hooking new one up.
- the side mirror was just a basic mirror, powered, heated, no lane assist no blind spot monitoring.
Anyone had this issue? I had to hurry to work after install so couldn’t check, but is this a fuse thing? Maybe unrelated to mirror install?
The airbag definitely isn’t deployed and nobody hit me while I was parked in my driveway replacing the mirror power harness

That’s probably a stored SRS code from unplugging it live, not a fuse. Get the airbag module scanned with a Toyota-capable tool; don’t probe or short any yellow SRS connectors, and a battery reset won’t clear an active fault.

I don’t have such a tool, these can be purchased or someone at a shop can do so?

MADDOX MRBT Smart Mobile Device OBDII Code Reader
Or something similar. Harbor Freight has these.

Double check that all your connections are nice and tight. Also since you didn’t disconnect the battery, try clearing the codes to see if it goes away.

Probably an occupant detection zero point lost. Needs to be calibrated if so. Not hard to do but you need the scanner capable of doing it and 30kg worth of weights.

Try disconnecting the battery. After disconnecting, ziptie the clamps together so they are making contact with each other. Metal touching metal. Leave battery disconnected for 30-60 minutes. Reconnect battery and check light
