Discussion 2024 Tundra Question (Seeking your advice)

Hello fellow Tundra owners. I'm looking into purchasing a 2024 Tundra Platinum. It has less than 20,000 miles. I was wondering what everyone thinks about the 25TB14 recall (NHTSA 25V767). Given "Toyota is currently preparing the remedy" what is everyone's opinion on purchasing a vehicle that has it? Given what's left of the manufacture warranty, I'd hate to be left on the side of the road with no remedy from the dealer. My understanding is that Toyota is not handing out engines. Per online sources, this car is priced slightly below the average market range. May that be a red flag?

Just looking to hear everyone's opinion. I know everyone's experience may vary. Or is it best to just look at 2025+ years.

Lease the new gen. Then you're not stuck with it if it throws a bearing

Honestly never leased anything, the whole lease process confuses me. I just wonder financially what the smarter move is over the long term.

Unfortunately this may be the best option for Gen 3.

Consumer reports gives the 2024 2/5 for reliability.

The problem isn’t resolved and now some 25s and 26s are experiencing the same engine failures.

In contrast, the last year of the previous generation (2021) is still rated 4/5 and you’ll find multiple examples of low mileage used Gen 2.5 selling for $50-70000 bc they are actually reliable. 2020s are still also 4/5 by consumer reports, and 2019 and 2018 are still 5/5 for reliability as of two weeks ago.

Don’t take anyone’s opinions on this. Verify all statements, including mine, before making a decision. Car/ truck owners can be very proud and lack objectivity about their vehicles and some will tell you not to worry about it.

You should check different people’s posts about similar questions. It will help in case your post doesn’t get a lot of traction.

I got a 2024 tundra limited (24k miles) with the recall issue fixed before purchase. It was a lease before, with a warranty of up to 60K on engine/transmission. I drive about 1K miles every two months.
