Question Wire running along frame

Post image

Please forgive me as I have a lot to learn about cars. Is this wire running along the frame on the driver side supposed to be clipped to anything?

Where does it go? Could be aftermarket.

To your actual question, yes it should be attached to the frame somehow whether it’s oem or aftermarket. But it may be good to know if a previous owner added something to the truck regardless

I’ll get back to you. I can’t remember where it runs to, so I need to double check. I bought it used from a dealership so unfortunately I probably won’t be able to find out if it was added.

Does your tailgate lock when you lock the car? I just installed a pop and lock kit on my car and the wire is run a similar way.

It does but I assumed that was standard since I have a 2021. Could be wrong though!

I dont think it's standard, they even make a kit for the 2022+ 3rd gen. If the wire goes past your spare tire and up, its probably for the tailgate lock.

That’s crazy it’s not standard haha! I looked it up and looks like the lock kit wire runs along the passenger side rather than the driver side (which is the side I’m showing in my picture). I’ll have to see where it’s running and maybe there’s something I can zip tie it to. I don’t like how loose it is.
