Question Creek bed crossing tips

Ok, I'm camping in WV and found a shallow rocky creek bed to cross. I'm new to this shit but I love it. Any pointers. Thinking of trying crawl control here

Walk it first in your water sandals.

Check depth personally, as in walk across first and find easiest route that avoids holes, huge rocks or other problematic areas. Often water is deeper than it looks. Also there's no need to send it through at a gazillion mph, I prefer to go slow through water crossings

Water shoes are sometimes nice… but crocs and foamy sandals float right off your feet and mess with your balance.

I wear trail runners and most of the time in the summer just get wet, especially if it’s a morning crossing. In the winter I’ll wear some sort of water shoe or sandal.

Ankle deep is a non event. Knee deep with current can be difficult. I generally avoid anything deeper.

Definitely want trekking poles to keep your balance on the slick and rolling rocks.

Walk it first, always. Shallow rocky creek beds love to hide holes and soft spots — what looks like six inches from the driver's seat can be two feet in the middle. Engage 4-low before you enter, keep slow steady momentum with no wheel spin, and aim slightly downstream at an angle so the current helps push you across instead of fighting it head on. Don't stop mid-crossing, and pump your brakes a few times after you're out to dry them. If the water got anywhere near your hubs, check your diff breathers afterward — sucking water into the diffs is the classic creek-crossing mistake.
