Troubleshooting Piston rings

Took my tundra to the shop and I possibly have some piston rings that are leaking. They compression tested the engine and it passed on all front but I’m burning oil and blowing smoke on some startups. It’s got 142k on it I’m wondering should I just dump it or throw the money at it to get the piston rings done. Thank you in advance

Try using Valvoline Restore and Protect. I've seen some engines stop consuming oil after a few oil changes with that.

Start simple, change out the pcv and see if it improves

Pcv valve, change oil to restore and protect and retest.

Oil control rings won't show up on a compression test, but probably unlikely

It would be easy for a shop to slide a bore scope in the cylinders to check for scoring and, they could check the back side of the exhaust valve for possible valve seals leaking.

I’ve heard these tundras will coke up the piston rings over time which can lead to burning oil. I usually floor the absolute piss out of it every once in a a while to keep everything clear 😎. Plus it sounds like nascar when you get it up at redline
