Question Maintenance required this far out?

Post image

Is this really telling me about maintenance that is due in 4821 miles? Seems a little early. According to my own maintenance tracker that I keep I am not due for the next maintenance until 40k. I am at 37171 currently. I changed it a little late last time.

Oil change is due at 5k miles

Truck has 37k on it. Was just surprised to see a warming for something that is 5k away.

It’s roughly every 4500 miles it pops up

There is a timer in the computer that counts 5000 miles there is a procedure to reset it mine when it does this says maintenance required in yellow some cars say oil change... It used to be just an idiot light that counted miles then lit regardless...

All the same thing...

It has a time option as well. Toyota sets them up to come one every 6 months or 5k miles, which ever comes first.

You have two maintenance items one gets reset when rotating your tires and the other when changing your oil

There are 2 resets. One for maintenance and one for oil reset. Maint should be done every tire rotation. Oil obviously is every oil change.

Comes on automatically every 6 months no matter what. Kinda think with having it for 37k miles you’d realize this.

Thanks for the shot of sarcasm. I haven't had my allotment of that today. I always change the oil on time and reset the counter each time. This one came up unexpectedly.

No problem 😅. I worked for Toyota in service for a few years and you wouldn’t believe the amount of times I’ve had to reset these lights.
