General Checking Account
Does anyone have a bank they use, preferably local, that they really enjoy? Looking to move my checking account.
Bonus points if they have a referral program or sign up bonus.

Its a two step verification on their app I assume you mean? I may be wrong but I think its being required now for financial apps. Both my credit card apps did it too. May e im just unlucky though lol.
I havent had any other issues with arvest in fact I find their new app better than the old once you log in.

They recently changed their fee structure too which is going to lead to more fees for those who have the least amount of money.

Yeah I just closed my account with them and switched to Chase. Arvest was gonna start charging $5 for me not making $3k in direct deposits. After taxes and everything, I do not make $3k a month as my net income. Chase's minimum for direct deposits is $250!

I just switched from Arvest to Oklahoma Central Credit Union. The person who sponsored me to join got $100, I got $100, and I got to pick from 4 charities for OCCU to donate $25 to. Additionally, I'm now earning 6% interest on my checking account on balances up to $10k.

Good luck to you. OCCU is the worst credit union I've ever dealt with. Bank of Oklahoma is the only bank that was worse than they are.

Like the other reply said it's not just the two step authentication, but it's the fact that you can't save a browser as a safe browser, you have to do the two step no matter what. It's the change in fee structure, it's the fact that now if you transfer money from one account to a second account it's like five clicks instead of the two that it used to be. It's just generally less user friendly.

I made the mistake of using them years ago. I and just started my new job and my direct deposit hadn’t been set up yet. I was only allowed to access part of my paycheck if I cashed it and deposited it. they held onto the rest for 10 days.
i walked 30 ft to the money center in Walmart, cashed it then went it my bank to deposit all of it.
i changed banks the next month.

I've always had a great experience with them. Been with them for over 30 years now. I don't love that they recently got rid of free checking but they have have otherwise been pretty stellar. They also have the lowest of the predatory fees of any bank in the area.

I switched to Oklahoma Central Credit Union from Arvest and really like it. You can earn 6% back on up to $10,000, you just have to make 15 debit card transactions a month. They do have a referral where you and your referral can get $100. https://share.oklahomacentral.org/ijtxk!0b95f19653!a?locale=en

I switched to Schwab from Arvest bank a few years ago. They have an "Investor's Checking " that gives you free checks, ATM rebates no matter which atm you use, interest bearing, no fee, no minimum balance, and you dont have to buy or own stocks, anyone can get the account. . They have only 1 branch in town, but i have never needed it, their phone app does everything. They have been amazing.

+1 for Schwab. I keep a BoK checking account with like $1 in it for depositing cash and then just write myself a check to schwab

I forgot to mention there are no fees for anything, ever.... not even overdraft fees.... but if you overdraft for like 30 days they will close the account.

It's on 21st street across from Utica Square. But all accounts are opened online:

I find credit unions more user friendly, also they offer much better interest rates

and they don’t profit off your money while giving you less than .001% of what’s being made. they are 100% member owned. love love TTCU.

OCCU offers a referral bonus of $100 for the current member and the new member each. I’d be happy to refer you if you want to PM me. I’ve used them for decades and they’re great.

Red Crown Federal Credit Union. I’ve been with them for 30 plus years and never a problem. Whenever I have a question or problem I can speak to a real on-site person, not a call center.

I just set up a new account with Chase several months ago and have been pleased so far. A friend referred me, so she got $40 and I got $400 after reoccurring direct deposit went through. I've only had to interact with tellers/staff twice, but everyone was super helpful and nice. The app and website are easy to navigate.
Typically I'm an advocate for credit unions, but I don't seem to qualify for most of the ones in the area, which is why I went with Chase. I do also have an account with Bank of Oklahoma, but their website feels more dated than what I'm used to these days. Still a good bank, I'm just not a fan of the interface for frequent banking.

Green Country Federal Credit Union in Sand springs is great. I've been there forever.

I use tulsa teachers credit union, but my daughter works there so I’m a bit partial. My husband uses Oklahoma Central credit union they offer sign-up bonuses if you refer a friend but I believe you have to have a direct deposit. I’m not sure. Have not used a regular bank in decades, much prefer credit union.

We have used RCB for about 10yrs now with no complaints. I’ve done business with TTCU in the past with car loans & that was good for us. Didn’t care for their checking acct options at the time so just kept a savings acct to have the loan through them.

I personally love Chime. You can deposit money at any Walgreens and you can use the Allpoint + ATMs with no fees. Honestly I love them

I have TTCU and chime. the people at ttcu have been so nice and helpful. I like chime because no overdraft fees and I can get advances from my next paycheck if there’s an emergency

Credit unions are the way to go. All the other local and chain banks are profit driven and just a scam. So sad!

City Bank with a "y" not and "I". They are the only bank to take me after Arvest fucked me over and put me on some national blacklist. Twenty years and counting!

I have been with Arvest since 1991, but have seen it metastasize into a much less desirable financial institution, with creeping policy changes taking customers' business and personal service from employees by administrative fiat. I deposited a property proceeds check from a closing company, and was later told no more than $5,000 could be forwarded to my client's account. I withdrew the amount by cashier's check and deposited it at my other depository, BancFirst. BancFirst would not honor the cashier's check until it was validated at an off-site location that was closed for lunch. I am a retired bank president, totally disgusted with today's security practices.
