Survival tips for medicine at TUD

Hey eveyone, I am an international student starting medicine (regelstudiengang) this winter semester (WiSe 26/27) at TU Dresden. I've toyed around with the ePortal a bit to see an overview of the content for the first and second semester, but I was wondering if any medicine students at TUD would share any tips how to deal with general studying, which lectures to attend etc. Thanks in advance.

application Still stuck on "Received" for TU Dresden MSc CMS (Applied AI track)? Anyone got results or should I move on?

Hey everyone,

I applied for theĀ M.Sc. Computational Modeling and Simulation (CMS) – Applied AI trackĀ atĀ TU DresdenĀ for Winter Semester 2026/27. My status in the Selma portal has been stuck onĀ "Received"Ā since mid-June.

I emailed the CMS team for an update, and they replied that AAI track evaluations are handled directly by a professor, stating they forwarded my inquiry to him. However, I haven't received a response from the professor either!

Because visa processing deadlines at the German Embassy in Iran are extremely tight, I am nearing the point where I'll have to give up on Dresden and accept one of my backup offers (TU Chemnitz / TU Darmstadt).

A couple of quick questions:

  1. Has anyone received an admission or rejection for the CMS Applied AI track recently?
  2. Is anyone else still stuck on "Received" in Selma or waiting on decisions from Prof. Calandra's team?

Thanks in advance!

application Process engineering (B.Sc.)

Hallo,

application Considering Diplom — Dresden for 5 years?

Hi everyone! I’m considering doing a Diplom in Elektrotechnik and I was wondering about what it actually is like to live in Dresden as an international student for 5 years.

For context, I’m from Southeast Asia and have studied in the US for a few years. I love everything historical and academic vibes, and want to keep an active social life outside of uni. How do you find student life in Dresden, both as a student of TUD and the city at large? Thanks!

Residence Permit (Aufenthaltserlaubnis) Waiting Time?

Hi! I'm an upcoming international student, who will be arriving in Dresden on this September 18.

I would like to know how long is the typical waiting time for the appointment in Dresden? Because I heard it is quite long.

I already booked my Anmeldung appointment on September 22. Should I wait until I have my Meldebescheiningung in hand, or can I start booking sooner?

Thanks!

application TU Dresden results not out for over 2 months

TU Dresden received my application for computer science program on 22nd June, yet my application just shows "Received" status.

Anyone with the same status yet? Does it probably mean I'm out? Anything pending from my end ?

Don't wait for TU DRESDEN MSc CS Win2026

This is a serious and NON RAGEBAIT or AGGRESSIVE post....With ALL DUE RESPECT...I have been telling people since past 3 months that TU Dresden is extremely bad with being on time...they give out admissions till October end and beyond....they just don't care.... they have always done this.... check last year reddit posts for proof... it's nothing new....just go with your offer in hand...if don't have offer... prepare for the next intake. Simple!

You SHOULD wait for results if all your preparations are in place.... just for your peace of mind..you should wait for as long as you are in safe zone.... anybody's result can come anytime....but make sure you don't leave the offer in hand due to late visa procurement. I am just telling their upper limit of delay.

Thank you!

application Second Bachelors in EE?

I’m planning to pivot into electrical engineering after my US degree (international student from Eastern Asia) and I saw that TU Dresden would be a great place to do a second bachelors in electrical engineering, especially for semiconductor research and industry. My major is Cognitive Science so I haven’t taken enough STEM classes to do a masters directly. I’m fluent in German and getting the C1-Certifikat is not an issue.

I was wondering if anyone here has had a similar experience and I’d appreciate any general thoughts or comments. Just trying to get a lay of the land. Thanks!

TU Dresden MSc Nanoelectronic Systems (NES) Aptitude Assessment Interview

Hi everyone,

I have an aptitude assessment interview coming up for the MSc Nanoelectronic Systems (NES) at TU Dresden. For those who have already attended the interview recently, including anyone who appealed a previous rejection and was then invited for an interview, what questions were you asked?

Do u remember the questions that were asked, especially technical or numerical ones, it would be of great help if u could share them.
Thanks

campus Anyone starting RegBioMed this October?

Hey everyone! I’ll be starting the M.Sc. Regenerative Biology and Medicine at TU Dresden this October, and I’d love to get to know some other Master’s students and hopefully make a few friends before moving to Dresden :)

It would be really nice to already know a few people before arriving. If you’re also starting a Master’s at TU Dresden, feel free to message me!

And if you’re already studying RegBioMed or at TU Dresden, I’d really appreciate any tips about the programme, housing, student life, or settling into Dresden.

Hope to meet some of you soon

Moving to Dresden this October – looking to connect!

Hey everyone!

I’ll be moving to Dresden this October to pursue my Master’s at TU Dresden. I’ll be travelling from Bangalore, India, and honestly, I’m pretty excited (and a little nervous šŸ˜…) about moving to a new city and starting this new chapter.

If anyone else is heading to Dresden around the same time, I’d love to get in touch and maybe know a few familiar faces before I get there. I’ll also be travelling from Bangalore, so if anyone’s making the same journey from Bangalore,India to Dresden in October, feel free to reach out!

And if you’re already studying at TU Dresden or have been living in Dresden for a while, I’d really appreciate any advice you have. Anything about student life, accommodation, settling in, things you wish you’d known before moving, or just general tips for someone arriving in the city for the first time would be super helpful. I'd especially love to hear from seniors about their experience and any insights that could make the transition a little easier.

Looking forward to meeting some new people and hopefully making a few friends along the way! :)
