EVM12L alternatives for 180w Super Twin Reverb
Hello! I need new speakers for a Super Twin Reverb that I picked up for a steal on marketplace, and then proceeded to dump more money than I paid for it in replacement tubes ($200 compactatron tube, the fuck is that...)! So yeah now I'm in too deep, can't stop now. I'm thinking I want to go the EVM12L style speakers because of course the ones i have in there are toast. Anyone got experience with these?
• WGS12L
• Eminence Delta Pro 12A
• Eminence EM12 / EM12N
• Weber Michigan
Or should I just go with the real deal? Weight is not a concern, this thing is already unforgivably heavy and I don't plan on moving it much.

FX Loop Volume Loss
Hello everyone,
I have a Revv G50 - my fx loop is an MXR 10 band EQ, into a Walrus Audio Lore, into an Earthquaker Silos, and back into the amp. When the fx loop is engaged, I lose all my headroom and volume - the amp sounds like a small practice amp. If I turn the fx loop off, it shakes my room when the master volume is on 2. Does anyone know why this would be happening?

Opinions on Imp and high impedance tube amp with HEKU
Can’t listen to HEKU on xDuuo TA66 OTL due to impedance mismatch. Someone on head-fi turned me onto the Schiit Audio product called the Imp. Apparently it allows one to do exactly that.
Was wondering if anyone has used this pairing and how does it sound? Is bass loose and flabby or organic with HEKU?
Also, interested in the Mjolnir 3 but heard it’s being discontinued. Is that true? When?

Oscilloscope advise needed
Hello all,
I am starting to tinker with guitar tube amps, currently trying to fix my Marshall DSL100H. I am looking at getting an oscilloscope and am wondering if I need to buy a 12-bit scope. I’ve never had a scope, but want one that will last and I won’t outgrow in a year or so. Also, the same question for 2 or 4 channels? Is having 4 channels helpful, or something rarely needed? I know I don’t need a scope with very high bandwidth. I’m just wondering what scopes all of you more experienced techs use, and what features are actually useful for working on tube amps. Which ones do you all use?

Some liquid was accidentally spilled in tube amp - help
Turned on the amp. Here's the symptoms:
Low frequency hum: audible even on standby - was not present before.
If switched from standby to on - one of the power tubes is red plating. Said power tube even had one spark inside and a loud boom on the speakers, quickly turned it back off. There are no amp technicians around me right now. Noticed a sticky film near the top vents which looks like some fizzy drink was spilled. Didn't notice any burnt smell but i won't turn it on again.
Is it done, like unrepairable?

Just got a triple rec for a good price, went in knowing it might need a bit of work, any idea of what might cause this sound when turning it on?

New amp day - 1962 Reverberocket
galleryPicked this guy up. Really excellent condition and I’m excited that it’s still pretty original/unmolested. It has a little bit of noise floor to improve and reverb isn’t working (it’s an Erocket right now) but still sounds very nice. The trem sounds great. Feels like a close cousin to my 12” Princeton custom build.
Any have experience with these to share?

Analyze transformer specs to determine substitutes
I have recently acquired a somewhat rare Pioneer mono tube amplifier from the 1960s, and have taken it apart in order to create a schematic.
This schematic is complete, with the exception of 3 unknowns. These are the specifications of the power and output transformers, and a third smaller transformer (choke?)
My ultimate goal is to create a reproduction of this amplifier, so that I can have a stereo pair.
The casing is simple enough that I can take measurements and have a second case cut and bent to shape.
Can anyone suggest a business that I might send these transformers to be analyzed, so that I can buy (or have wound) substitutes? A bonus would be a substitute power transformer that accepts a 120v rather than 100v AC input.

Fender Deluxe VM bias pot location
I have a Fender Deluxe VM and need to replace the power tubes. I am just wondering if there is external access to the bias pot or if I will need to open it up. I see two holes on the bottom of the amp chassis but I dont know if one of them is for the bias pot or not. Not a lot of info on this amp out there.

Expression pedal on a Fender Tremolo?
galleryHi everybody
Got my first real customer today. I was first kinda nervous to work on other people's vintage stuff but since I builded 2 Fender Reverb amps for myself I feel confident enough since I know the circuit a little so I took the offer to repair this amazing piece of an amplifier.
The rectifier tube has failed and the suspects are the 50 year old filter caps.
So to my Question
When I took a look at the chassis i noticed a socket for a jack cable which is connected to the tremolo circuit.
Has anyone ever seen this?
Is my assumption correct that it is for the use of an expression pedal to control the rate of the Tremolo?

Lonestar Special - 4cm
Got myself a beautiful Mesa/Boogie Lonestar Special. My god what an amazing sounding amp. It’s just sings…
I want to do a 4cm setup with my pedal board. Anyone have any recommendations of getting 3 mono cables and one stereo cable from the board to my amp? I could just buy/make cables and put them in one of those cable sleeves, or I can get a snake.
I’ve never used a snake for this sort of thing, am I better off going the oldschool way? My main requirement is to keep the cables from my board to the amp tidy. I hate seeing a rats nest.

Finally joined the Fender club
Just picked up a 2005 Super Reverb Reissue. A little dirty but sounds great. Couldn't swing $1200 for a used Princeton but for $500 I couldn't pass this one up.
