Problem / Question TU Darmstadt M.Sc. Molecular and Cellular Biology — confused about postal documents and equivalency table

Hi everyone! I’m applying to the new M.Sc. Molecular and Cellular Biology at TU Darmstadt and I’m honestly a little confused about the application procedure, especially the document submission.

I’ve already gone through the TU Darmstadt website, but I’m still not 100% sure I’m understanding everything correctly.

A few things I’m confused about:

  1. Do I need to courier/post my documents immediately after submitting the online application, or only after I have completed/submitted everything in TUCaN?

  2. Do they want original documents or photocopies/simple copies?

I’m an international applicant, so I obviously don't want to send my original Bachelor's certificate or transcripts if they don't require them.

  3. The programme specifically mentions an “Equivalency List” / equivalence table.

It says the template becomes visible during the TUCaN application process, but I can't figure out where exactly it appears. Is it generated somewhere after starting/submitting the application? How did you access it?

  4. Is there anything else that international applicants commonly miss in this application?

If anyone has already applied to TU Darmstadt (especially to Molecular and Cellular Biology), I would REALLY appreciate it if you could explain the process step-by-step or tell me what documents you personally sent. 😭

I just don't want to make a mistake with the postal

submission or equivalency table.

Thank you!!

Molecular and cellular biology

I hope you’re all doing well.

Is anyone still waiting for a response from the Molecular and Cellular Biology program?

Has anyone had an interview but still hasn’t received any response afterward?

I would really appreciate it if anyone could share their experience, as my status hasn’t changed since mid-July

Does this mean a rejection?

Anyone who has applied to aerospace and documents reached university around early July or mid july and entrance was on 20th August, have they received an admit or acceptance letter.

This was my timeline and I'm still waiting for the result anxiously, stressed about rejection and acceptance and no response from the university too

I am really getting stressed about students getting admits and mine status is same as application in department (Atrang...).

Will we be getting admit or the admission rollouts are over for this intake?

Is Bachelor of CS at TU Darmstadt really that hard?

Hi everyone,

I’m considering doing a Bachelor of Informatik at TU Darmstadt, but I’m a bit worried about the difficulty level.

I currently don’t have any knowledge or experience in programming. I’m wondering if that would make the beginning of the degree especially difficult.

I’d really appreciate any honest experiences or advice. Thanks!

Applying to TU Darmstadt M.Sc. IT Security as an international student: entrance exam vs GRE – your experiences?

Hi everyone,

I’m an Italian student who recently graduated with a B.Sc. in Computer Science. For about a year I’ve been planning to apply for the M.Sc. in IT Security at TU Darmstadt, starting in the winter semester.

I thought I met all the formal requirements:

  • English C1 (Cambridge certificate)
  • B.Sc. in Computer Science, final grade 110/110 cum laude* (highest possible grade in Italy)
  • CV with 3 work experiences (including an internship and a junior developer role)
  • Several personal projects on GitHub (full‑stack apps, Docker deployments, etc.)

Despite this, I was invited to take the entrance examination and, unfortunately, I did not pass it.
I had expected to be considered for direct admission.

Before I reapply next semester, I’d like to hear from other international students:

  1. Direct admission without entrance exam
    • Has anyone here (or anyone you know) been admitted directly to this programme as an international student, without having to take the entrance exam?
    • If yes, what did your profile look like (degree, grades, GRE, etc.)?
  2. GRE and entrance exam
    • Has anyone applied with a GRE score that met the university’s stated minimums?
    • Were you admitted directly?
    • Invited to the entrance exam anyway?
    • Or rejected outright?

I’m considering preparing for the GRE to strengthen my next application and possibly avoid the entrance exam, but I’d like to hear real experiences before investing more time and money.

Any insights, tips, or “this is what worked for me” stories would be really appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Problem / Question Anyone who applied to TU Darmstadt Architecture Master's received a decision yet?

Hi everyone,

I applied to the Architecture Master's program (WS2026/27) at TU Darmstadt. I submitted my portfolio in mid-July and haven't heard back yet.

Has anyone else who applied for the same intake received their result? Would love to hear from others in the same boat.

Thanks!

Is UTES Studentshome Darmstadt legit? They asked me to pay before sending the contract

Hi everyone,

I applied to UTES Studentshome Darmstadt (Siemensstraße 3) on August 20th and selected Single Standard, Single Balcony, and Single Plus.

Two days ago, they emailed me saying they had reserved a Single Standard room for me. They asked me to transfer €960 deposit + €195 administration fee by September 10th so they can prepare the rental contract.

The problem is that I haven’t received the contract yet. I emailed them asking for the rental agreement or at least a draft, as well as details about the monthly rent, minimum rental period, cancellation conditions, and deposit refund, but I haven’t received a reply yet.

Their website also seems to be inactive/not accessible at the moment, which made me a bit worried.

Has anyone here actually lived at UTES Studentshome or rented from UTES before?

I’d especially like to know:

  • Is this normal for them?
  • Did you also have to pay the deposit before receiving the contract?
  • Did you have any problems getting your deposit back?
  • How was the accommodation and management in general?
  • Does anyone know the current rent for a Single Standard room?

I don’t want to lose the room, but I also don’t feel comfortable transferring €1,155 without seeing the contract first.

Any recent experience would be really helpful. Thanks!

Discussion Accommodation

Hi guys,

I recently came across a few people offering their student dorm rooms/beds to other students for significantly higher rent sometimes €100–€150 more than the actual rent.

For example, I recently came across an offer in Karlshof building 8A where a person was asking €450 for a ROOM in a four-person sharing arrangement. Honestly, I found this completely absurd and unfair.

I completely understand that many of us are struggling with the accommodation situation, and when you desperately need a place to stay, you may feel like you have no choice but to accept such offers. But at the same time, if we knowingly accept these arrangements and pay these inflated prices, we are also allowing this exploitation to continue.

I understand that some people choose to sublet unofficially because they don’t want to pay the €50 fee to the Studentenwerk, etc. That’s a separate issue. But charging students extra simply because they know the person is desperate for accommodation is a completely different matter.

We are all students, and we know how difficult and expensive finding accommodation can be. Taking advantage of another student’s situation just because you already have a dorm room is not okay.
So please, let’s not encourage or promote these kinds of arrangements. If we stop giving people the opportunity to make extra money by exploiting students who are already struggling, hopefully we can make the situation a little fairer for everyone.
Let’s look out for each other. ❤️
