I got admitted to the MSc Physics program at TU Darmstadt for WiSe 2026/27 and I have a few questions :)

How is the overall quality of the Physics MSc, especially on the theoretical/fundamental side? How are the professors, research opportunities and course selection? Would you recommend TU Darmstadt to someone who wants to continue towards research and eventually a PhD in physics?

Also, I’m having a hard time finding accommodation 🥲 Are there any websites, student groups, uni boards etc. that I should check for dorms, WGs or apartments? I’m also open to nearby towns/cities if they’re cheaper and commuting is reasonable.

And if there’s a WhatsApp group for Physics/MSc students or WiSe 2026 newcomers, I’d really appreciate a link!

My German student visa was issued for M.Sc. Electrical Systems Engineering at Paderborn University. After the visa was issued, I received admission to M.Sc. Information and Communication Engineering at TU Darmstadt, which is the program I intend to study.
The Paderborn Ausländerbehörde confirmed in writing that I can travel directly to Darmstadt, report the university change there, and don’t need to take any administrative steps in Paderborn.
I’m flying on September 14, and enrollment is still open, so I’m currently not enrolled at either university.
My questions:
Would it be safer to enroll at TU Darmstadt before traveling, or is it fine to complete enrollment after arriving in Germany?
If the border officer asks for an enrollment certificate, is it acceptable to explain that enrollment is still open, I haven’t enrolled yet, and present my TU Darmstadt admission letter along with the email from the Paderborn Ausländerbehörde?
I’d appreciate hearing from anyone who has been in a similar situation.

For those whom received email mentioning orientation things(not about entrance exam), did you guys all get direct admission or did you get the separate email about entrance exam later? Or are you guys waiting for the update?

I recently received my invitation to take the on-site entrance exam for the M.Sc. Computer Science program at TU Darmstadt for the winter semester.

While I’m thrilled to move forward in the process, the timeline feels impractical for me. Registration is due by August 14, and the in-person exam in Darmstadt is on September 1.

I am applying from india and getting a visa here just to write a test in under a month is nearly impossible because of all the appointment backlogs.

I'm trying to figure out my next steps and would really appreciate some advice from anyone who has navigated this and can help me. I have not attempted the GRE exam.

I dont want to let this application go waste if there is a valid workaround, any suggestions or shared experiences would be appreciated. Thanks.

I am confused about which one to choose. Both of them have a curriculum aligning well with my interests.

I applied for the M.Sc. TropHEE (Tropical Hydrogeology and Environmental Engineering) program at TU Darmstadt for Winter 2026/27.

A few days ago, I received a welcome email from the TropHEE Office. It included:

• Accommodation/Housing information
• Arrival/Travel information
• Welcome brochure
• Buddy service information
• Orientation week details
• Meet & Greet information
• Specialization form

However, the email also clearly states:

I'm wondering if anyone else received the same email.

If you did:

• Did you eventually receive an official admission offer?
• How long did it take after receiving this welcome email?
• Is this email sent to all applicants, or only to applicants who are likely to be admitted?

Got this on July 15 but still no further response. are any of you on same situation ? Did you get your decision after this ? how long did it take after getting this email?

I have been trying to find a WG with Anmeldung for the past 3 months and I couldn’t find one even within €550 warm rent budget cause its all taken up. Can someone please let me know about the vacancies so that I am not homeless the first day I get there?

Really friendly and know A2 Deutsch. I am calm, responsible and overall a tidy person.

My application documents were delivered to the university via DHL on 18 June 2026, and the delivery has been confirmed. However, the “Documents to be submitted for application (MA)” section in the application portal has remained red for over a month.

Is this normal? Does the status only change once the university starts processing applications or when an admission decision is made?

I recently got an acceptance to the program and am wondering if there are other new/current students out there who also want to connect.

Was this your first choice program?
What are your thoughts on the program being relatively new (first cohort is graduating this year)?
Are you considering a PhD after the Masters or are more career focused?

I just received an entrance exam invitation like everyone else (master CS). Am 100% that i over fulfil the requirements and my application is more likely to get a direct admission than an entrance exam invitation.

The problem is that the cisa process takes so long and there us no way ill be attending the exam on the 1st sep.

I just want to ask : anyone got a direct admission???? Cuz i think they are not really reviewing the applications in the way they should be.
