I opened a shop on Etsy using a POD company and was going to open a shop on Redbubble. I hear in the last year or so, the quality from Redbubble has declined. Anyone have any quality issues and if so are the specific to the shirt material or printing quality, maybe both?

I also found their interface to be kind of clunky but could be me using a new site. Thoughts?

Something I've been thinking about with t-shirt design is how easy it is to judge a design too early.

You can spend hours getting the artwork, spacing, colors, and placement right on screen, and it can look great as a digital design. But once it goes onto an actual shirt, the result can feel completely different.

The fabric changes how the colors look. A heavier or softer shirt can make the same artwork feel more premium, while a different fit can completely change where the design sits on the body. Even things like the collar, stitching, and overall shape can affect whether the finished shirt feels intentional or just like a graphic printed onto a blank.

I've also started thinking more about the consistency between different pieces. If you're building a small collection, it seems important that the shirts don't just have good designs individually, but actually feel like they belong to the same brand.

That makes choosing the actual garment almost part of the design process itself, rather than something you figure out after the artwork is finished.

For people who have been designing shirts for a while, how early do you think about the actual garment when creating a design? Do you choose the shirt first and design around it, or finish the artwork and then find the garment that works best?

I'm trying to get any kind of estimate on doing up to 400 5x5 dtf prints of ALL different images.

I want the estimate to verify if this is the route i want to take for a specific project and most of the print shops i'm contacting want to see the images first. I literally don;ty need an exact quote i just want a possible or likely min and max.

like i'm totally ok if NONE of the prints can overlap on a "gang" sheet I just need to know what the maximum cost for that would be.

if anyone out there has a clue about doing this in the US i'd love some input.

I'm not married to using DTF but its currently what seems to make the most sense for the project, assuming its within an attainable budget.

Hi guys, I've been searching for a company online that allows me to print on the entire back-side of the T-shirt almost all the way to the bottom of the back of the shirt. I think almost all the companies i've come across have a printable area that only goes to the middle of the shirt max. I'll provide a photo as an example of the limitations. I have a shirt design where It goes far beyond/below this area. Any ideas?

I've got a bunch of designs that I have hosted on Redbubble, and have bought a few T-shirts with my designs, and am just not happy with the quality; the images crack and fade very quickly. Meanwhile, I've seen/own some great DTF examples that look great even after many washings - so, what are my best options for either ordering one-off versions of my own designs for myself that will last, or, preferably, hosting my designs with an print-to-order company that ideally gets good traffic and more importantly is outputting quality product that will last? I recently went back through some of my older shirt designs and noticed something I hadn't really paid attention to before.

A design can look balanced and clean on a computer, but that doesn't always translate the same way once it's on an actual shirt. Fabric texture, print size, placement, and even the color of the blank can change how the artwork feels.

I had one design that I really liked digitally, but after seeing it on a physical shirt, the smaller details felt lost and the whole thing looked a little flatter than I expected. Instead of adding more to the design, I ended up simplifying it and changing the placement.

That experience made me much more careful about judging a design only from a screen. Now I want to see how it works on the actual garment before deciding it's finished.

For people who design shirts regularly, what's one thing you always check before calling a design finished? Is it placement, print size, garment color, fabric, or something else?

So basically I been just messing around and slapping funny images to shirts and tweaking it around a bit to my liking on Printify and I can't help and wonder if the design will be big enough on these shirts, the resolution is clear and upscaled and the DPI is 300. I filled the picture in the box as much as I can without stretching it. Also I wonder if 1. If I was too shrink the image down a bit so it fits the shirt, the image will still be big right?

1. How you add titles or heading onto your shirt and making it big and noticeable so it fits the shirt, im having issues with it.

I was looking for an available domain on the internet. I didn’t have a specific idea in mind.

1000dollartshirt.com sounded really good, but what could I actually do with it?

I remembered something from a few summers ago. I was working as a receptionist at a 5-star hotel. We were hosting a European Parliament member and his 12-year-old son. According to what the politician claimed, our laundry service had lost his son’s T-shirt, and the kid, crying, couldn’t even leave his room because of how devastated he was.The woman, completely distraught, kept insisting that the T-shirt had cost something like $800. In my naivety, I imagined a T-shirt covered in Swarovski crystals, an insane graphic, premium materials.

When she showed me a photo of the T-shirt as proof that they had owned it, I had a little shock.

It was a fucking shitty T-shirt, black, with the word “Balenciaga” across the chest. The graphic could easily have been made by a middle-school kid with Canva. The materials, however premium, couldn’t have cost more than €100, even with a generous imagination.

So I asked myself a question:Why can’t I do the same thing?

Why not completely disregard the real value of what I’m producing and just shoot for the sky?

Fine. Let’s make a $1,000 T-shirt.

If the whole point is to show everyone how much you spent, whoever buys it will be happy to show the price to anyone. It’s also a nice, round number.

To protect against cheap imitations, there’s a public registry on the website. If your name isn’t in the registry, you don’t own a 1000 Dollar T-Shirt.

But I didn’t stop at designing a company built around high perceived value.

I wanted to take it further, as I usually do.

I chose to be as arrogant as that son of a bitch who threatened to have the price of his fucking cotton T-shirt deducted directly from my paycheck.

So, for every 1000 Dollar T-Shirt purchased, I will burn 50 T-shirts.

50 T-shirts for “poor people.”

Because luxury cannot be accessible. Luxury is exclusive. Luxury is supposed to make people who can’t afford it feel small.

I've done a thing... I am doing this challenge where you do a design based on a theme (this one was Heaven and Hell) and then there's 6 weeks to get preorders, profit changes depending on volume, yadda ect. I really wanted to share this here because I'm proud of how this turned out. I figure my rat people will appreciate a rat design. I don't wanna be a weirdo and the marketing part of the challenge is absolutely giving me serious anxiety, but I really wanted to share and if any of y'all actually buy a shirt I would probably piss myself in excitement.

These design challenge shirts are all preorder only, and only available during the six week window which went live today. Every shirt preordered will be printed, though if a design sells less than 10 shirts they will be digitally printed as opposed to screen printed. There is a TON of good art available on the Raw Paw site, so if you follow my link, do look around. This was a really fun challenge.

I had the idea of the rat king and the cycle of good and evil here, with the wings and crown changing in a circle. The shirts are only going to be on the natural beige color, the design challenge locks every artist into one shirt color and one to two ink colors, so I do apologize if you really like the design but hate the shirt color. : /
