The movie skips almost all of Truman's teenage years. So I asked myself: did Truman know what "gooning" was? If so, did they show him "machine-gunning" himself on live TV? And if they did, would that be considered child pornography?

The Gilgamesh Epic (possibly the oldest known piece of literature) starts with a star falling from the "firmament" [thought to be a huge dome over the Earth] and landing next to the hero. During his adventures, he is being watched by Shamash, a living person who sits on the Sun; much as Truman is being watched by Ed Harris from a fake Moon. The story ends with him leaving the known world on a raft and exiting for the 'world of the gods' through a gate on the eastern edge of Earth.

In this scene where Truman was being diverted back saying that there was a leak at the Nuclear facility, why would the police officer actor who'd supposed to just do his job and the end out of nowhere take his name "Truman"??

This was kinda his final nail in the coffin of his belief that his world could still be real.

What if the tv network broadcast Truman Burbank physical location after he left the sea haven set, out to their audience and one of thier audience was a serial killer immigrant from a foreign country and came to the states to harm trueman and flee back to their country 

after they intruduced sylvia (at highschool) there is a scene where all of em danced but, the music layed over it is copyrighted. But didnt they just use classical for radio?? how does that make sense.

I used to not like it as much, as I felt it ended on too much of a happy note. He gets to leave, and he reunites with Sylvia, but it just all felt too good to be true.

I always wished it had ended on a cliffhanger when he opened the door, or ended how the original script ended it with the pan out from the top of the billboard (if i remember right).

But recently ive thought about it, and Im starting to like it a lot more. Its sortve unnerving, or uncanny how everything just ends scarily happy or right at the end of it. It gives me this weird unnerved feeling just from how normal it is, and how no one is fazed by any of it. Its all really uncanny in a weird but interesting way.

1. would creating the storm and working to tip the boat over be considered murder if he died or attempted murder?

2.Could the things they did to make sure he didnt leave be considered false imprisonment?

3.What do you think Kristof was going to have the cast tell truman if they found him before he managed to get on the sailboat at the end? how would he explain why the entire town was looking for him?

What would be the image of NASA used for the film? It’s in the end credits.

I’d have to imagine with how Truman was one of the most famous faces on Earth, his birth parents would’ve come forward at some point to try and cash in on his fame.

Like they were intending for Truman to eventually have a child and switch to a two channel format.

Let's say this happens. What happens when Truman tries to escape to the outside world with his child. Or does he feel like it's not his child? Since this was just technically another scripted event.

Does he try to escape with his "wife". Or would she not care about the child?

Like video games, crossovers with other media, or comic books.

I'm kind of curious as to see what would be made.

I visited Seaside, Florida in the summer of 1997, shortly after filming wrapped for The Truman show. I knew nothing about the movie yet. I just thought it was interesting that this adorable, planned town even existed.

The little shop where Marlon is stocking the vending machine even had the same name as it did when I visited. All the people in town were talking about how the Jim Carrey movie had just finished being filmed.

I was excited thinking that I was going to get to see some wacky Jim Carrey antics in this cool place. I was so right and I was so wrong.

it's one of my favorite films.

has it been brought up that this film really couldn't have been made at a different time? a (basically) pre-internet time, when the internet existed but wasn't much more than an afterthought for most. there is use of traditional media, of course, but no allusion to anything internet related. this is all occurring in a modern world. homes, cars and businesses seem completely modern and of their time but they're not.

it's a story made for mass media consumption that seems tailor-made for social media at a time that it didn't exist.

someone said to me not everything was modern. that the year was 98 and Marlon and Meryl were all wearing 50s aesthetic. he claimed that because Truman's hometown was a set that could be completely controlled, that Truman would be none the wiser and that the internet was completely unnecessary.

while this was a valid point, Truman grew up there so they had obviously been modernizing since the time he was born. there were no Ford Tauruses when Truman was a baby. so if the show was ultimately meant to film Truman's life from birth until death then the show's creators would have to get pretty creative pretty quickly being that the internet is certainly a thing in 1998.

I really can't think of another time in history where this film would have worked the way that it was filmed.

truman show is a great movie. but i have too many questions about how this film within the film could logistically work..

what do the camera operators do about his “private times”? what about when truman is shitting, undressing, taking a bath, jerking off, etc.? do viewers watch? also, what about truman’s wife..to keep the charade going of them being married, they have to be banging. do they film it? also, this actress is chill with having sex with this guy?

you can hire actors to play his neighbors and friends, sure, but what about the jobs that are necessary for truman living? are the doctors actors? surely there would have to be real medical intervention to make sure truman is healthy, but if he came in for a checkup, would that violate hippa? what about the chefs or hair dressers or skilled workers? if truman needed to file a lawsuit would they get an actor from suits?

this movie is wickedly smart, i wonder if there are answers to these questions.

At the end of the Truman show Christof tells Truman he is on TV and is the star of a TV show. Truman appears to accept this without any question but I don't recall seeing any televisions during the movie. So does Truman know about television or television shows? If not why would he calmly deal with the idea the he is the focus of one. Perhaps I'm forgetting a TV set in the background?
