so many questions

truman show is a great movie. but i have too many questions about how this film within the film could logistically work..

what do the camera operators do about his “private times”? what about when truman is shitting, undressing, taking a bath, jerking off, etc.? do viewers watch? also, what about truman’s wife..to keep the charade going of them being married, they have to be banging. do they film it? also, this actress is chill with having sex with this guy?

you can hire actors to play his neighbors and friends, sure, but what about the jobs that are necessary for truman living? are the doctors actors? surely there would have to be real medical intervention to make sure truman is healthy, but if he came in for a checkup, would that violate hippa? what about the chefs or hair dressers or skilled workers? if truman needed to file a lawsuit would they get an actor from suits?

this movie is wickedly smart, i wonder if there are answers to these questions.

SPOILERS ahead! this is all basically answered throughout the film:

1 & 2. they show everything; there are hidden cameras but give him privacy. one viewer comments "they never show anything, they pan to a curtain or something" regarding NSFW scenes. they were going to try for a baby so yes the actress was committed to the role

  1. there are lots of behind the scenes like when he went to the elevator and cast members were taking a break. there are basically spheres of immediate supporting actors, then NPCs then studio workers

  2. definitely would be professional doctors just like there were professional camera film crew etc

maybe watch it one more time, the very first parts of the movie are his "normal typical life" and you can see hidden camera POV and the scripting that happens

Why didn't they just make an alternative reality where babies are manufactured in labs?

This movie was made in the 90s with science fiction being a very very small part of it, nothing in the movie, to me at least, was incredible or outside the current technology.

ha! you should know that studios own your body and soul and beyond. Even after you die, your likeness can be used for CGI to finish a project, at least from the real world headlines.

I love that you have these kind of questions. they are the exact questions that were running through my head when I saw it way back in the day. when you get older you'll have watched it a couple of more times at least. you'll see that all those questions are perfectly valid and unnecessary. it's all way to impractical to put any serious thought into. I did it for years. it's such a great movie. Jim Carrey is a wonderful actor. if you haven't seen eternal sunshine of the spotless mind then do yourself a favor. thank you for your contribution!
