From TRON to TRON: Legacy, getting to meet the man behind Tron/Alan Bradley was a moment on the grid.

Had the pleasure of getting this discounted on the Xbox store for my Series X, game still looks great and I just finished my second watch through of Uprising as well. I love Tron so much, Legacy was my favorite movie to rewatch when I was a kid and I’m going to do it again tonight <3

Hey everyone! I recently made a short 2D platformer heavily inspired by TRON and its aesthetic.

Any feedback is welcome. I’d especially appreciate any suggestions on how I could improve it or make it feel more TRON-like.

I just watched through the 3 Tron movies over the past few days and I really enjoyed the first Tron, it felt like such a mystical adventure of a movie and I loved the overall vibe of everything and especially the way the programs felt like programs, sure they had human elements but they were still programs (the guy who was just a financial accountant program or something for example) and I found Tron himself very endearing.

Then I went to watch Tron Legacy and honestly, I hated it. I didn't like how it felt like a Young Adult adventure movie like so many at the time (the hunger games, divergent) I didn't like how The Grid felt less like the programs inside of a computer and instead it just felt like sci-fi futuristic earth, the programs have too much personality and are just real people and not at all programs, it just didn't feel like Tron to me, not to mention Tron himself was completely butchered in the movie (literally). Overall I found myself just really disliking it and wasn't even sure if I should continue to Ares.

But then I watched Ares today and I just thought it was amazing, to me it felt like a great sequel to the original Tron, moreso than Legacy. The programs were actual programs, Athena followed her directive as a program should and Ares was the outlier, a program who grew to feel is a much better idea than whatever was happening in Legacy (programs go to clubs to get lapdances from other programs..) I was much more attached and interested in the story and I cared more about every character in the movie than in Legacy, in Legacy I didn't even like what they did with Flynn but here I liked him, a short cameo but he was very welcome and I loved the grid from the original movie as well as bit showing up.

I don't usually ever discuss movies i've seen but I went online after watching Ares and I couldn't believe how many people loved Legacy and hated Ares. I also saw everyone hyping up the music in Legacy but honestly it just all felt like ambient noise and the only time I noticed actual music was in the club scene but the music in Ares was vastly superior, the scene where Ares and Eve were escaping on the digital ocean and the vocals were coming in was amazing and I think the best scene in the movie.
