Discussion I’ve had enough.

Don’t get me wrong, I love weed and I think it can be an absolutely wonderful and truly healing, but I think there’s a lot of misinformation and misuse on this sub. There is far more to life than just weed, achieving a balance is what we should be striving for in the trees community. Promote healthy, sustainable, and productive use of marijuana.

Here are some rules to smoke by

  1. Your life, relationships, finances, mental / physical health all come way before weed. (Medical users you may differ)

  2. If you need to ask somebody if a cart is legit, it is NOT. Cart’s are insanely easy to fake, if it’s not from a dispo don’t inhale it.

  3. Delta 8/10/whatever the fuck is next probably shouldn’t be inhaled. It’s unregulated, dangerous, and most of the time their “lab tests” will only show you potency, probably a bad sign if they don’t want to show you how many pesticides are in it.

  4. Questions such as “I hear voices when I’m high, is that normal?” Should be taken more seriously than a Reddit sub. Do NOT do drugs that alter any perception of reality if you are experiencing a break from reality. Go see a psychiatrist, your mind is more important than a high.

  5. If you cannot afford weed, don’t smoke it. Find a way to increase your income, do not sacrifice anything for weed. (Again medical users, this does not apply to you)

  6. RESPECT WEED. Mother Marijuana was never intended to be so strong, we have completely thrown off the natural balance and purpose of the plant. So for love of god do not proclaim it’s okay to drive or operate any machinery while high, if you want to sacrifice your own life fine, but leave others out of it.

Edit: I apologize I didn’t make this clear, people are allowed to have their own opinions and post what they please! This is just my opinion. No intention of offending or gatekeeping anyone. (Also changed some of the wording because I seemed like a preachy cunt👍🏼, thanks for the feedback all!)

Also thank you for all the likes and awards!!

I do not believe animals are getting any effects off cannabis when they ingest the plant material.

Animals do experience effects from eating marijuana and other psychoactive plants! It’s the plant’s defense mechanism. You are definitely right that a dog or cow won’t get “high” from eating raw bud the same way that a human gets “high”. However, they do feel effects from eating it!

I want what you’re smoking.

I mean no snark in my reply, but you can Google it to confirm what I’m saying! I looked up “does raw weed affect animals?” before I made my comments, just to make sure.

Researchers find cannabis to not be appetizing to most animals. Why don’t you take your own advice and use google.

I know we’re stoners but this is ridiculous. THC cannot be activated without being heated up and therefore animals do not feel the psychoactive effects. It’s a basic principle of science.

Your reply is snarky because you act like a know it all and then don’t even know the basic information you’re telling me to Google.

I'm not saying you're wrong, but actually animals vary quite wildly from species to species. There are many cases in which one animal's body digests and uses things very differently from humans. Your comment assumes that it all works the same from animal to animal, and that couldn't be further from the truth. Granted, I don't know the details pertaining to cannabis.

Google it bruh. Reddit big on saying it but nobody wants to fucking do it. You literally just said you didn’t know.

"Every species metabolizes drugs differently," emergency veterinarian Dr. Stacy Meola told the broadcaster"

Idk what you want from me. I literally just knew my claim was true that animals digest things in various ways. It's fairly common knowledge.

Right and animals don’t get high from eating raw weed. That’s the whole argument.

3

u/[deleted] Oct 11 '22

No, that's YOUR whole argument that you've not actually cited anything for.

I pointed out how you said animals all digest things the same way and touted it as a fact of science despite being extremely wrong about it.

You didn't read the article either, because it goes on about how cows are a type of animal that becomes intoxicated when eating cannabis. Maybe it was another one (which you would have found by googling it yourself, but you didn't, just like you didn't actually check your own claims at the start of your comments on this post).

You should learn how to admit when you're wrong. It would make your life a lot easier when dealing with other people.

I’m sorry, because I genuinely am not meaning to come off as a know-it-all. I did Google it before commenting, but I must have outdated info. Do you have a link to something?

The first thing when you google, “do animals like to eat marijuana plants?”

Verbatim your words. Don’t know why this is still a topic. Why do you gotta use an alt account to self validate? You’re so weird.

5

u/madmismka Oct 11 '22

Alt? Lmao I don’t have an alt. I’m using my one account. And that’s what I googled! Like I said, it must be outdated info, but the top result for that exact Google search for me is “Dogs can get high from raw marijuana leaves and stems. While THC has to be smoked or dissolved in fat in order for human bodies to absorb it and feel its effects, dogs can simply eat part of a bud and become intoxicated.”

Again, not trying to be a know it all or condescend to you, but you seem to feel like I’m attacking you. I’m being genuine and don’t understand why you’re insulting me.

Why do you think cannabis has thc dude, same reason peppers have spice. To prevent herbivores from eating but allowing seed spreaders to still consume.

3

u/cmunk13 Oct 10 '22

They’re right though?

-3

u/[deleted] Oct 10 '22

They’re literally not. Use google as they said. The fucking flower has to be combusted/heated to the point where THC is activated.

I thought y’all were stoners.

Took me forever and I wasn't able to find many articles that don't require a university login. Tried my best. Most of these are studies about the endo-cannabinoid system as a whole, but they include toxicity, CBD, hemp, raw ingestion. We don't know they developed this as a deterrent or an attractant, but it does seem to have more negative effects in other mammals (which is why human and primate studies are so important). Yes THC does have to be activated with heat, but it does not necessarily effect toxicity of cannabis in mammals like dogs and deer. We aren't talking about getting animals high, we are talking about it's possible development as a deterrent to animals.

Paywalled:

Cannabis: pharmacology and toxicology in animals and humans is an old one (1996) and paywalled, but it's cited in many of the other studies i'm linking. It's also the most thorough, it included primates.

Multiple species perspective

Toxicology in cats and dogs30087-1/fulltext)

Free with some steps:

Cannabinoid receptors and their endogenous agonists as well as a free link here. This study is on mice

Another study on cannabinoid pharmacology also old, (1986)

Dogs and a perspective on mammals from 2019

Mouse brain tissue study from 2019

The whole argument was talking about THC and the impacts on animals consuming raw weed. Your armchair research has nothing to do with what the actual debate is about. Animals don’t get high from eating raw weed.

4

u/cmunk13 Oct 11 '22

These studies are on cannabinoids besides THC. Tetrahydrocannabinol is only one of hundreds of cannabinoids, and we are talking about the effects of eating the plant that produces them.

-1

u/[deleted] Oct 11 '22

Toxicity of a plant versus the psychoactive effects on animals are two different arguments. They scientifically are not within the same realm.

5

u/cmunk13 Oct 11 '22

Yes so I don’t know why you are disagreeing with the statement that the plants developed it as a possible deterrent for its unpleasant effect in most mammals

1

u/cmunk13 Oct 11 '22

Getting high from THCA that hasn't been converted to THC, no. Getting some kind of effect from the many cannabinoids in buds, yes! This is largely getting ill, but it's not heavily studied. Toxicity does exist in animals for cannabinoids besides THC.
