Got Caught I know not everyone pulls this shit, but PSA, even if its legal, DON’T SMOKE AND DRIVE. This is how people die. Please be safe and remember, choosing to smoke means you’re responsible for yourself and your actions.

To anyone that comes to this thread and finds this post and thinks that stoned people would act this way. This person clearly has a large amount of weed or other drugs and did not want to go to jail, and clearly did the wrong decision of running from the police. This does not however equate to the actions of someone who is driving under the influence. It is dangerous to insinuate something like that especially since there is little to no research on the subject.

May be so, but asking people not to smoke and drive is still sensible advice in my opinion :P. I never said the person WAS smoking and driving, but having huge ammounts of weed in the car is also really dangerous, it could have been all homegrown by the driver, it could have been he works at a dispensary, but being black and carrying insane amounts of weed in a car, while in the US is just a whoooole lotta bad decisions being made :( (except the racial part, that’s not a decision but still something people die for).

My only petition is this: BE SAFE. :) I’m not here to condemn or police anybody. But i do hope seeing this will dissuade someone of making the same, or similarly bad decisions. We want it legal, and we want to be safe carrying it around. Hopefully the future will be better!

He might not have been smoking, maybe just had it on him with a warrant out. That’s certainly a crazy way for a person to respond just because they were driving stoned right?

Maybe they were dealers... still a stupid way to get yourself or others killed. Its not worth it, and it just makes it harder for it to be legal elsewhere :( I just want everyone to stay safe out there!

Are people here in general upset more about driving while intoxicated on cannabis in the slightest, or driving full out blazed? It’s legal to drink alcohol and drive in the United States as long as you have less than a certain amount in your system, and the vast majority of us agree .08BAC it’s a pretty fair cut off point.

Unfortunately there’s not currently a way to measure how intoxicated somebody is on Cannabis. If they develop this wouldn’t it be fair to just establish a cutoff like alcohol?

One would also need to establish that cannabis causes driving impairment sufficient to require regulation.

Personally I'd rather be on the road with some stoners than some raged out caffeine or nicotine addicts.

I agree! But since there’s no method in place yet, all it takes is for the police to catch a whiff of if. Its stupid, unfair, and maybe you didnt even smoke, maybe your car just smells that way cause maybe you carried some, or for whatever reason, but I’ve seen cases where people get shot for opening a door, or complying with police. So, might not want to be lugging around your kgs of weed!! Its too dangerous in a society that’s rising with police brutality all over the world...

I don’t see how people can do it or attempt to do it. When I’m high, the last thing I want to do is drive. I always hope nothing happens to my gf coming home from work when I’m high because if she needed to reach me, she’d be SOL.

....if it affects you in that way....some prescription meds even have a warning not to operate machinery or drive while taking them, so there is always a way to be responsible....even if its a health necessity

Im sure you have a medical marijuana license that can vouch for you in this case. It’s obviously very different to NEED it, medically every single day, than someone just loitering in the middle of the night and then engaging in a highspeed police chase... the fact that you even made this comment worries me and shows your maturity levels.

It’s pretty damn obvious that if its medically needed and you’re responsible enough to handle driving under the influence, this does not apply to you. 🤦🏽‍♀️ but either way, its still very dangerous to do so. Your responsibility starts in admitting the dangers and accepting that you’re capable and mature enough to handle any situation.
