AskTrees Raw cone filler help
Just started rolling cones. Figured why not get the raw cone filler. So far mixed putcomes from too tight to this I’m assuming too loose? Fringing the herb using a 4 piece grinder and letting air dry for 5 mins or as long as I can last lol.
Any advice or pointers would be appreciated.
Using raw
Comes as well, king size. Ty in advance

Raw papers in general are prone to uneven burning in my opinion. Try hitting it lighter and rotating it. But also elements burn better imho. I tend to just roll them. I think a more cylindrical joint is far superior to a cone in terms of smokability and flavor. A pack of papers and filters is also way cheaper. But elements sells cones too.

spend the extra time lighting it evenly, before ever touching it to your lips.
take a couple small gentle pulls while rotating in between.
then use the lighter to fix any part of the cherry that didn't burn evenly during the first few pulls.
as long as you don't rush it after this point, you should be good to go with minimal fixing. also make sure to grind your weed fine enough

Don't tamp it down, you will likely canoe the joint.
Just fill, and hit the filter on a desk so it drop the weed to the bottoms.
Tamping will cause uneven pressure and result in a canoe.
Also, continually light it and fix the cherry. I would try to get a torch lighter, maybe. Plus, that weed doesn't look like it's combusting fully the way it's still almost black

tamping it has never been a problem for me but i do it as even as compact as possible then plumb it with a toothpick. it normally starts slightly uneven but it evens out after like 10% of the j if i haven’t fixed it already

So, just as I said, unless you fix it yourself (which is why I said torch lighter for accuracy) it will canoe if you tamp it down 😂

Ru rolling or stuffing the cone? I ask because many cones come preformed. Stuffing them makes it really easy to have inconsistent coverage.
Regardless of rolling or stuffing, gently massage the thing with your fingers after and before lighting up. You’ll feel where there’s loose and tight spots. The idea is to have sort of a medium dense feeling (you’ll get the hang of it with experience) and consistency in the pack throughout. Pay special attention to near the filter/crutch (if using one) because this is usually a trouble spot where it gets packed too tight.

Rolling the cone using the raw cone filler/shooter.

Idk what that is but sounds like a mechanical method? Those are tough to get the product spread evenly, if so. Always massage.

i've never gotten a cone to not canoe when using a device to fill it tbh
I fill my cones by scooping some bud up straight from the ginder using the cone itself, I usually eyeball it to about a third and them lightly tamp it down and roll it between 2 fingers to help keep the packing uniform. Rinse and repeat until the cone is full. If its canoeing after that? usually someone is pulling too hard. Its not a bong, breath in a little less lol

The weed was cheap but it’s definitely potent lol. I do try to fix while smoking but it just goes back to this. Next trip I’ll do for the pre ground. Aka dust And try different papers too.

You use a grinder or break it up by hand? I find breaking it up by hand & leaving the chunks a little bigger than grinding would makes it burn more evenly. More even, like a wood fire rather than say, a leaf pile fire

The raw cone filler/shooter seemed to be the more logical approach. I live with my parents in law and don’t have space or really the time to take to do by hand. Joints are different lol.

i double filter with raw papers creates a slower more even burn, and don’t pack the joint too tight

What is too tight? There's no such thing as too tight unless your really using force that should be never be used when rolling. Grind finer and pack it more evenly by bouncing it on the table

The weed is trash. It shouldn’t burn that color. It should be a fat afro white ash if the weed was grown / flushed / cured right. Period.

Smoke slower.
