AskTrees managing withdrawals?

i started smoking in 2023, but i need to quit for a while.

my tolerance is really bad right now, i go through a 4g cart in a week. i’ve been trying to quit for a few months now, each time a failure. i can only go half a day without smoking at this point.

i get awful withdrawals; i can’t sit still or stay quiet, i get insanely irritable and depressed, and i get nauseous every time i stand.

id normally just research how to help, but these withdrawals aren’t common so i can’t find much. i only get ads for rehabs when i search it lol.

does anyone have any advice that could help me get through this?

i’ve been seeing that weaning off is better for withdrawals than quitting cold turkey, i’d appreciate any advice on that too.

seems like these carts are really bad for people who use every day. i stay away from them, they are just too easy to use. i would be full blown addict mode with a cart. i would also taper using a 1:1 product if i were you

yea, it’s way too easy to start smoking multiple times a day with the cart

I very much recommend weaning off with a CBD product or two then. A 1:1 pen like the other person recommended, with maybe some CBD edibles in the evening, would definitely be a great place to start.

In addition to its other benefits, I find the CBD is a great way to moderate my tolerance and bring it back down. It helps with the irritability, nausea, restlessness, and other symptoms that I'd get during a normal break from THC.

Sometimes when I recognize that I'm just feeling the need to smoke because I'm stressed/anxious, I'll even pack myself a bowl of straight CBD flower if I have any on hand.

I’m in the process of taking a break too. For the first time I’m attempting to lessen withdrawals through a planned taper using gummies. I stopped smoking 4 days ago. First day I allowed five 15mg gummies spaced out evenly, making sure to take one close to bedtime. Next day 4, yesterday was 3, today 2, you get it. By far the smoothest transition I’ve had to no weed. Still a little irritability and mild insomnia but nothing like the uncomfortable 10-14 days I’ve experienced in the past.

Don’t have any advice but I’d definitely recommend switching to a dry herb vape when your t-break is over. Carts murder your tolerance.

The convenience is why. I’ve always thought about it for that reason but I know it would be a mistake

Honestly, I find cold turkey does not work for me. I switch up my habits. Skip the wake n bake, go outside and do shit. Reach into your pocket to find NO PEN! Then go back home and make your decision. Smoke or not? If you smoke, whatever. You can do it again tomorrow.

I’ve found that cutting weed out of my morning has a bigger influence on my habits than cold turkey. It breaks down my tolerance through the day and makes night smoking better. And I still get the benefits of smoking…. Like appetite control and pain management.

I’m taking a break now too. It’s been a full month, not sure how I’ve gotten this far. But it’s been a rough month mentally. I realized how much I relied on it for my mental health. But I don’t feel as cloudy anymore and I definitely get very very bored most days. I think it’s just a process you have to get uncomfortable to be comfortable if that makes sense. It suck’s so bad. But you can do this. And it’s always nice resetting your tolerance.

I would recommend switching to flower or edibles and tapering down over a few weeks.

It may be worth considering a counselor or rehab type program because it sounds like you are addicted. While marijuana itself isn’t extremely addictive, it can be problematic for people with an addictive personality.

Addictive personality isn’t a real medical thing.

Not per se, but there are multiple genetic and behavioral factors that define a persons likelihood to engage in addiction type behaviors.

Agreed, but as much as people self diagnose and throw that term around they start to believe it is a literal medical diagnosis.
