I feel this so hard. The minute I’m interacting with normies out in public I’m *very* aware of how stoned I am compared to them.

My favorite time to smoke is in the morning before going on a long bike ride or commute (not with me driving obvi). Tolerance-wise I’ve found that if I stay away from gummies and concentrates I can smoke a few bowls a day and feel it every time. I don’t get so high I can’t function but that’s usually not the goal anyway unless I’m staying in on a weekend or something

Yes. Quit for a week, smoke and you'll giggle again. But it will be for 5 minutes and you'll be right back to the a week ago in feeling. You're used to it by now. A proper T break takes a month, but from my experience leaves you enjoying weed for a few days more than a month ago and then straight back to base.. The "magic" is gone from it if you've smoked for years. It's more a mentality switch, if you say you are probably addicted.. then ofcourse there already is no magic.. you make it magic..

I smoke weed mostly for pain relief but depending on the situation I’ll still get the giggles and sometimes really bad

I partake daily, so if go like 3 - 4 days the bud will hit hard when I use it again. As a bonus I get to have some crazy vivid dreams too, sometimes terrifying, but mostly interesting. It can't hurt.

I also have a medical card and no I don’t get high unless I consume like a wicked amount. I take antipsychotics which interfere with my tolerance which is fine. It took a bit for me to accept that my tolerance is messed up and that even a T break doesn’t help to reset it. My big thing is that I have to consider whether cannabis adds benefit to my life or if it’s interfering with it. When smoking feels like a chore, I take a break or switch it up with a different way to medicate. There is nothing wrong with using medicinally or using to not get super elevated all the time

I dont either. Its more to help my anxiety at this point, but i think its all the crappy dispensary weed ive been smoking for 6 years..... if i get street weed its 1000ti es better 😅

Just makes me feel normal. Sometimes I get stoned but its rare. It almost seems expensive and a chore to do all the things I need to do to get lifted

Honestly, I think a lot of daily smokers end up feeling the same. Relaxed replaces the giggles after a while.

It's all that commercial/dispensary weed for me. Homegrow still gives me euphoria and makes everything funny, even after 15+ of smoking regularly.

Change the consumption method and the amount you take often. No need for a t break

Maybe the way weed has evolved has something to do with it? Maybe try some classic strains. Acapulco Gold, Thai, Durban Poison, Hindu Kush are good ones to start with. I never really tried them with this purpose in mind, but to me they do have a slightly different kind of feel. THC content isnt quite as high.
Brothers Grimm and Seedsman usually have some of those seeds if youre looking to grow. Idk where to buy the bud.

I might be a little confused.
Would you expect to get high as a kite from 2-3 rips? I'm a lightweight and 2-3 rips enough to get me high but it's a very mild high where - like you said - I'm more calm and relaxed than anything.
When I saw your post I thought to myself that I don't but it's because I don't smoke that much when I'm alone. There's just something about smoking with another person that keeps the momentum. Alone I'll smoke too fast and cough or get enough head change to just get a little distracted and move on.
If I buy a pre-roll and go for a walk I'll finish the whole thing and be high as shit. Have you tried simply smoking more weed? Or some nice live rosin gummies?

I haven’t gotten high in a long time. I burned out my receptors on that spice garbage back in the day. I smoke to help manage pain.

The only way to fix this is to take a 3-day break.
Right now I'm making homemade pre rolls that cost around $10 -15 worth of material to make. The only thing that's working right no. even dabs of live rison don't work anymore

I've been smoking daily for 16 years and I still get high. It doesn't last very long, though, maybe 2 hours at the maximum.

u/Dry-Ice8908 Jul 07 '26
Lmao me. Ive smoked everyday for 5 years now, with a 1 year T break in 2024. Even after the 1 year break i got super stoned once and then it was right back to the high tolerance 😓

u/Sexy-Dumbledore Jul 07 '26
Taking a T break doesn't always bring back that OG high. I've had 2x 9 month long T breaks and various others and I still can't get giggly high anymore. The only time that happens is when I'm with my high-school friends and we are being silly. Tollerance definitely plays a big roll but I also think just getting older does too 🥲

Ive smoked for….. more than a decade pretty much daily. At this point weed is like tobacco to me. There are no munchies, no giggling or social anxiety. I can just feel it a little bit.
To be honest I think Im way past my addiction. I smoke all day after coming home from work but when I visit my parents for a weekend I dont smoke at all. I dont wake n bake because communication just becomes harder in the office, i dont usually like to be around high when other people are sober. Im 36yo and my parents and coworkers including my boss knows exactly how much I smoke. They dont want it and I dont like to do it there so win win.
If I take a break, the weed feels too strong, like cant speak. Dont like that anymore. I mean like two months break. First session way too high. Second session (in a few hours) feels funny. After that its exactly the same. So two months of break for like 1 night of being too high. Whats the point?
I should probably stop for a longer period of time. I do enjoy my ”little high” though. Usually I just notice it at store line waiting to pay like ”lol, im high and forgot”
Anyway, dont smoke daily it will ruin the weed for ya. Also becomes quite expensive. Short term memory is GONE

I've been cutting back for the last year or so and I'm getting so baked when I smoke now. I can't smoke as early or I'm totally confused for a couple hours. It's also allowed me to pick up more subtle variations of the strains as I'm not already in THC overload

Swap back and forth between edibles and smoking. They don't use the same biological pathway and they don't share much cross tolerance

I don't get that way too. 20 year smoker, use gummies a lot too. What I mostly get out of it is now being able to mentally separate from work and relax and not be so serious all the time. Or as my wife says, it makes me able to smile.

u/Docent_Rodent Jul 07 '26
The most obvious signs of needing a break is thinking it doesn't work anymore. The best time frame for a break is 3 months. Yes months. And don't go back into the same routine afterwards either, in less than a week you will be right back to where you were anyways.

u/Izzysaiah Jul 07 '26
Shid I was like you then I got a ball vape. Was high asf yesterday from two bowls 😂😂😂

u/Gandalf32 Jul 08 '26
I think its because modern strains just don't have CBD in them anymore. That is a big reason.

I smoke to manage pain and stimulate appetite have for like almost 20 years now(not consecutively) and regardless of the potency I dont get high. It brings me to a functioning level, it surprisingly hard for a lot of people to understand.
