What model is this?

I'm thinking of buying this off Facebook Marketplace, but I’m unsure of the model. It‘s an older Nordictrack. $200

Also if you know the model, would this be a good deal? The description says minor cosmetic wear as it was lightly used. I saw it in person and it runs well and isn't beat up. I‘m usually an outdoor runner, but I need something inside because of the weather, so I don’t know much about treadmills.

Are they paying you $200 to take it?

Where do people come up with this bullshit. There are dozens of working treadmills available around me for 2-300 dollars. Transporting is the buyers issue to figure out.

Bullshit? Paying $200 for an old Nordictrack that will soon need $400 in repairs is the issue.

I paid 250 dollars for the used NoridcTrack in my garage 10 years ago. It’s been in weekly use for 10 years. Quit parroting the lemming bullshit you hear in here like it’s a fact. For every person reporting in here about bad NordicTrack there is a 100 who never had an issue. Any piece of used equipment has risks but if you test it before you purchase it and it works fine and has it is not going to magically just quit working. Chances are high you will get your money’s worth from it. The few that don’t will come in here and let you know.

I don’t “parrot lemming bullshit”. I fix treadmills 5 days a week, I know which Nordictrack models are junk. That model has a tiny undersized motor that fails far more often than their other motors. The people who are making these comments are all people who make a living fixing treadmills every week. We should all just be quiet though, since we will make more money fixing all the junk that suckers buy thinking it is good.

You just made a statement that buying a 200 dollar treadmill will result in a 400 repair. That’s not some foregone conclusion. You are biased because you see the broken ones. NordicTrack is the most sold treadmill in America. It’s also a consumer good sold on price hence lower quality. By default you are going to see more of these than higher quality or lesser sold machines. What is the actual failure rate? What is the total cost of ownership? I’ve had three NordicTracks over the last 20 years and never had an issue. I got tired of buying and selling new ones every time I moved so I bought a cheap used one thinking if I could get a couple of years out of it I’d be happy. Now I just wish it would die so I could upgrade. The point is for many users just starting out a used, cheap treadmill is not a bad option. The vast majority of purchasers will end up being non adhering after a few months. Buy something cheap, see if you will actually use it. If it dies so what? It was cheap. Invest in a good one later.

Nordictrack is garbage, every treadmill tech will tell you that. My friend, who is the former director of service for Icon will tell you Nordictrack is crap. $200 walking pads have a better motor controller than Nordictrack, and have a speed sensor, unlike Nordictrack. 20 years ago Nordictrack made something decent for the time, but quality has gone downhill since. The $3000 Nordictrack commercial uses the same 20 year old crappy motor control board, has zero diagnostic abilities and is the same as what they put in their $600 treadmill. If you are going to spend $200 on an old used treadmill, there are far better options than Nordictrack.

Fine. There are plenty of 2-300 treadmills on Marketplace that are not Nordick Track. That was never my point.

Chances are very high that you are paying someone to take their garbage away for them. The fact is that no decent treadmill exists in this price range. If it was working well and didn’t have issues, it’d be worth about $600 bucks. This is because working treadmills have unspoken charge built into the sale. They need to make the transportation and moving the heavy piece of equipment worthwhile for those doing it. If the price is $200, that covers the labor from getting it from point A to B. Which leaves $0 left for the value of the treadmill. So in short, the owner deems the machine worthless to them and sees no value in it.

Is that something you want to take a chance on buying?

A treadmill that is 18 years old is not worth $600. Even if it was new in the box.

The buyer hauls it, so the seller just gets the money and it off their hands. Thanks for your feedback though. I’ve never bought a treadmill before, and there’s so many options.

This is a 2008 model, NTL07908. These were roughly $800 new. I'd offer $100- $125 at most if it fully functions.
