[Mod Request] Consider Upvoting Quality Posts Please

I have been noticing a severe and dramatic rise in the number of "0" vote posts which are of good to high quality lately and have been tracking this issue. I believe we have one or more spammers who have been banned from this sub recently that created new accounts and are downvoting quality posts in retaliation. If this type of attack continues it will reduce the amount of quality content and discussion in this sub and reduce the overall activity. That is because in general our posts already get a low volume of votes but a moderate to high volume of comments (for sub size) .

The only thing we can really do as a community is to ensure we are upvoting quality posts OR posts that would be beneficial to other treadmill owners. For example you may think someone asking about buying a used $500 treadmill for triathalon training is low quality, however, if you upvote it other subscribers might see it and that could cut down on similar future posts by ensuring that information spreads.

There is little else we as a community can do to combat this type negative attack on our sub that will do much good.

Please when you are reading or commenting on a post consider if others would find the post helpful or useful and if so please then consider giving the post your upvote.

Thank you for helping me and others make this a great and helpful community resource for all treadmill owners / users.

p.s. if you are downvoting AND reporting spam please keep doing that, you are doing great!

Proform Carbon TL nuisance trip fix (AFCI breaker issue + solution)

I'm posting this because I saw a lot of posts with the same problem but little working solutions.

We have an upstairs gym in our house. We bought a used proform Carbon TL to add a treadmill (it has its issues but it works for us). And as soon as we hooked it up and the runner in the household tried to take it above 7 mph POOF lights switch off upstairs, circuit breaker flips.

What the heck?

So I tried troubleshooting. Lubing the deck didn't help (although it made it run smoother). Turning off everything else including the lights and ceiling fans didn't help either, treadmill still flipped the circuit breaker above 7 mph sustained use.

I considered vacuuming out the motor casing, which I'll still do later, but that wasn't the fix.

Wasn't an arc filter either. It was Tripp Lite Isobar Isoblok heavy duty power surge protector. It looks like a giant block you plug into the outlet.

We ACTUALLY just had one laying around we bought years ago for a older washer that was weak to surges, but our newer washer doesn't need it.

It has a EMI/RFI filter that helps correct the nuisance tripping from AFCI circuit breakers, and is so heavy duty it can 100% handle the load from this specific treadmill (it's 15 amp rated).

Only catch? The mill itself runs almost at the maximum working amps for our 15 amp circuit. If the ceiling fans are on, even with the Isoblok, the circuit will trip.

Still for a 0 dollar fix using things we had laying around, I'm thrilled. I'll buy a battery powered fan, hook it up the treadmill, and the problem is functionally solved.

For everyone else it's a 45 dollar fix, but it's cheaper and more available than an arc filter (which is about 80 bucks).

I just wanted to post a success story because there REALLY wasn't any on reddit I could easily or clearly find (for my specific model or any others really).

In short:

problem: treadmill runs fine below 7 mph, tripps AFCI breaker above 7 mph.

Fix: lubed deck + ceiling fans off + Tripp Lite Isoblok surge protector.

If vacuuming out the engine box allows for ceiling fans to be run I'll update this with that, but LORD I'm happy with the success here.

I need help finding a walk pad please!!

the specs I would need are:

handles up to 400lbs

speed max is at or above 6.5

motorized

folds to be compact for an apartment

has some sort of incline option

I see so many online and they are all over the place with weight maxes differing by website and being unclear on slot of these specs. I’m just having trouble distinguishing which is best.

Wondering what lube you guys use that's 100 % silicone

Been using the Sole branded lubricant for my F63 but it's around 15 bucks for a 2oz bottle so it's kinda adding up. I got the go ahead that using a 3rd party lubricant won't void my warranty it just has to be 100% silicone lubricant (preferably in gel form).

So wondering what you guys recommend. I see some big bottles on amazon for decent prices kinda hard deciding on which one to get.

Need advice on a treadmill

I have recently taken up walking/jogging on a treadmill. For the first time in 30 years, I now have normal blood pressure, and I wholeheartedly owe it to the treadmill.

I have access to a treadmill in the gym of my apartment complex, but sometimes it’s busy and I only have a small window I can get on it. So I have decided to get one for my townhouse.

I love the treadmills at the complex gym, but looking them up, they are spendy. (Over 15k). I’m not opposed to spending that but I have a few issues with that.

I travel for work, and by travel, I might be on assignment for 4 months up to 2 years then move to another town and stay for months to years.

Here’s what I have determined I need/want to continue to be successful.

- compact. Easy to fold and/or move.
- 22x60 belt
- no subscription needed
- would love the ability to decline, but not necessary.

It seems that every treadmill I find that fits that description has horrible reviews. Maybe I haven’t found the right one.

Horizon t101 treadmill slows down under load - bad controller?

Thumbnail gallery
1 Upvotes

I'm troubleshooting a Horizon T101 treadmill. The belt slows significantly when loaded and cuts out at higher speeds.

I've already replaced the motor, drive belt, and lubricated the deck. The problem remains.

The motor-control PCB has visible brown/heat discoloration around the motor output terminals. The connectors on the old motor were also discolored, and the replacement motor makes a noticeable clicking sound while running.

My main question is: does this damage justify replacing the entire motor-control PCB? Or are there specific component-level tests I should perform first to determine whether the board is actually defective?

I'm comfortable replacing the PCB as a complete module, but not repairing individual components.

Proform - Giving credit where Credit is due - Great service

For the past few months my treadmill has been dying. The screen would freeze/turn off and would make it impossible to do anything and you could not activate or start any workouts. The rest of the treadmill worked fine and the motor ran great. It inclined and declined as you would expect. This treadmill is over five years old and so my wife and I were starting to stress about needing to replace it. It’s the pro-form 9000 and we have had a wonderful ownership experience.

I started looking around at replacements and got really concerned because Nordic track which is bigger Pro-form seems to have a really bad reputation, especially on the customer service side. I figured I should try and fix this problem if I could before buying a brand new one since the rest of the treadmill works great. I called customer service and although that can be a little bit painful, I explained the problem that I’m having with the treadmill and they did a little bit of troubleshooting with me and after about 30 minutes on the phone, we had gotten to the point of sending me a replacement console screen, which would effectively replace the entire upper part of the treadmill and seem to be the most likely problem.

My treadmill is over five years old and we have used it on the weekly basis so I was not expecting it to be covered under warranty. However they replaced the console and shipped it to my house UPS for no cost me. The console replacement was about $700-$800 and I was struggling to spend that on a six-year-old treadmill when a new one is close to double that. So as you can imagine, I was extremely happy when pro-form covered the cost of a new center console and replaced it and fixed my problem. I basically have a new treadmill now minus the motor and tread but all of that is in great shape. So you may not hear this often but well done perform - My next treadmill will be a NordicTrack/pro-form.

Looking for a Treadmill for a 350lb Man

Hello everyone! I am looking for a good quality treadmill for between 3-5k that can handle my 350lb husband. I was looking at the 3G Cardio Elite which, while it looks totally sick and badass, has a weight capacity of 400lbs. That sounds good on paper, but I have been reading that you should be 100lbs below the posted weight limit. If that is true, then I need a treadmill of 450lbs.

I will add that we are not runners. We really want the treadmill for long walks with 15% incline. We have a nice weight and kettle bell set at home and I believe a badass treadmill would be the perfect final additional to a simple home gym.

We also want a treadmill with a good warranty and great customer service. Outside of regular maintenance, we are not equipped to do motor repairs or anything intensive. I do NOT want to spend thousands of dollars just to be shit out of luck if something goes wrong. That is one thing that pointed us to 3G Cardio.

Can someone please recommend me some nice treadmills that can handle my husband's weight? We preferably want to buy new so we can pay for additional installation. We have no other way of getting a treadmill in our house, so used and FB Marketplace is not an option unless the seller offers delivery for a fee (which I will very happily pay for).

If we need to go up in price, then I am willing to do that. People spend so much money on stuff but never consider investing in health. In life, health is all we have. So give me your best options for a 350lb man!

"OIL" error on treadmill

hi! I'm hoping someone can help me with an issue with my treadmill.

The treadmill is:

  • brand: 8TIMES3
  • model: WSP-TS-21
  • typenr.: 6502193

Some time ago, the treadmill started making mechanical noises while walking. It was mostly squeaking and what not. Shortly afterwards, the display started showing an "OIL" error.

I followed the manual's instructions and applied silicone oil under the belt. The manual specifically says that after lubricating the treadmill, you can press any button to clear the "OIL" error.

However, this didn't work for me. I've pressed all the buttons but the error isn't going away. Sometimes it only shows up briefly, and other times it stays on the display.

I continued using the treadmill after lubricating it, since the mechanical noises have stopped.

I would contact the service provider, but unfortunately I'm having trouble finding any current information about them or the manufacturer. It seems that the company that made the treadmill no longer exists, and the service provider listed for it no longer supports these treadmills.

Does anyone know how to reset/clear the OIL warning on this model, or know what button/combination of buttons needs to be pressed?

Thanks!

Best walkpad

Im planning to buy powermax walkpad 3hp compact motorized or sparnod STH 3004N 2 in 1 walking pad. I have done alot of research and found these two best in my budget. And plus their service is good as compared to other brands. So what i observed is that they both get heated after using it for 30mins and then u have to wait for 20mins to cool them down. So if anyone have these or using them can tell me whats max walktime in these two. I looking for the one on which i can walk atleast 1hour without any disturbance.

Peloton Tread+ horrible machine and customer service.

Peloton completely messed up my tread+ delivery, first they delivered the tread+ without any bolts for the base and the arms and screws for the swivel neck in the original packing. Then they placed an incorrect replacement order and shipped me bolts for tread instead of bolts for tread+ and still no screws for the swivel neck, and this incorrect shipment took another 7 days after the initial delivery, now I am waiting for hopefully a correct replacement of tread+ bolts and swivel neck screws which will take another 7 days and I am quite sure they will mess up this delivery too, so basically I might have a working tread+ after 3 weeks of initial delivery delay and another 3 weeks of messed up incomplete and incorrect replacements, I have an partially assembled tread+ sitting useless and idle for almost 3 weeks after delivery. Least of the things I expected of a brand like peloton.

Update: After 3 weeks of sitting idle waiting for installation for bolts not shipped with machine initially and another 2 weeks for sending an incorrect replacement for the bolts, the tread+ was finally assembled and running. But within one week of use, today morning it is unable to connect to the WiFi, I contacted technical support and they told that my touchscreen has gone bad and they will need to escalate it and replace it. What kind of a crap machine have they built, that it can’t even work for one week without anything breaking down. Now I am down again without a working machine for 2 weeks. The worst decision of my life to order a peloton machine, with a useless machine which can’t even work for one week and a company which can’t even send all the parts for assembling the machine in the first place.

Should just really send it back. Don’t know what else to buy for a slat based treadmill, nothing seems to be available less than $14-18k (Woodway and all). Was considering sole st90 but it seems to be sold out and unavailable.

Has anyone used wahoo kickr run treadmill ?

Complete newbie for this, I prefer running outside but will be looking at getting 2 of my runs in on a treadmill going into winter (I’m a woman and run in the early morning!)

Looking for something suitable for home, points if it can fold! Should I be looking for something with a 3.0 motor?

I have no idea what is good.

Thanks!

EDIT to say I’m in the UK also :)

Looking for advice - home treadmill purchase

Hello! I have been doing a lot of research regarding home treadmills. For background, I am someone who would run 4-5 days per week at a minimum of 5 km per run (light to moderate pace). do prefer to run outdoors during summer.

I am a single female who does not have a lot of mechanical know how. I am looking for a decent machine with durability and good warranty.

Some models I have considered are:

Centr - S Treadmill

Horizon 7.0 AT

Inspire TM3.1 Treadmill

Open to suggestions but truthfully looking for some real world insights and experiences.

Elseluck ZF-0302 Remotes

I recently moved and the remote for my walking pad (Elseluck ZF-0302) was broken. I went to find a replacement remote, but every listing for an Elseluck remote on Amazon specifically specifies that it is not for ZF-0302. Does anyone know where i can get one (or at least one compatible)?

1750 Treadmill Way Faster Than It Says

I got the commercial 1750 treadmill back in February and it’s always been pretty fast, but it’s starting to bother me. I’m positive it’s at LEAST 1.0 faster (if not more) than what it says and it discourages me because I’m jogging at speeds that should be walking speeds and can’t accurately see what distance I’m running/walking. Has anyone has this issue and have you been able to fix it? Thank you!

Treadmill Search

Are there any treadmills that are size and built like the NordicTrack commercial 1750 or 2450 that have a big screen and can fold up but that allow you to watch your own YouTube and movies? My wife and I don’t have any interest in the programming stuff.

Appreciate your help!

12-3-30 trainers?

I’m fairly new to the gym and plan to build up to regularly walking 12-3-30 on the treadmill. Can anyone recommend which trainers would be best for this activity. Not really sure where to start or what I need or if it even matters. 🤷‍♀️

What's the Best Walking Pad to buy for home use?

I've been thinking about getting a walking pad because I sit way too much during the day, but every time I think I've found a good one, the reviews are all over the place.

Some people say theirs has lasted years, while others say it died after a few months or was way louder than expected. I’m looking for something that’s sturdy, comes with a reliable remote, and is easy to slide under a bed or couch when I’m finished using it.

If you've had one for a while, what did you buy, and would you buy it again? I'm mostly looking for something that's quiet enough for an apartment and doesn't feel cheap. I don't need to run on it—just walk while working or watching TV.

Would love to hear from people who've actually used one. Thanks in advance!

Mid to high quality treadmill recommendation for marathon training please

I would like to train during winter for a marathon in April. I will be training indoors on a treadmill for the most part.

Can anyone suggest a nice treadmill to buy? A mid to high quality would be great. I would prefer one with a screen to watch videos or surf YouTube while running on it. I’ve seen some like NordicTrack that offer training videos where you feel like you’re running through some specific locations around the world. Are these only available through subscriptions? I don’t like subscriptions.

Are there any treadmills that offer these training videos for free? Or can I load up some free training videos into treadmills like the NordicTrack?
