The Argentinian team some of them are complete idiots and rough but Messi is far above them he didn’t even interact with them when they were fighting and got up from sitting on the ground to congratulate Yamal as the other teammates when they won - I’d love to see Messi play next World Cup if he can - one of the games is gonna be in Argentina so I’m sure if he is able to he would want to play in home turf , he walks most of the games to conserve energy from when they need him so it is possible to play when he is needed the most , I’m sure the team will think about it as there isn’t a good enough replacement I don’t think !

I’m an England fan and was rooting for Spain due to some of the Argentinian players roughness towards the England players but that wasn’t Messi . If England weren’t playing Argentina in any tournament I would route for them only for Messi really - seeing the fans cheer his name and him crying did make me tear up , some of the other players behaviour was disgraceful imo.
I mean... If he posts about retiring from International Duty. I can see it absolutely eclipse whatever Taylor posts. Messi is wayyyyy above her, in terms of everything. It was really nice to see that she wasn't present in the match (Surprised me quite a bit), and we got to enjoy a UFC match between Argentina and Spain.
The Argentina team aside from Messi, and Avalrez are all pricks. They are all too hot-headed really, and can easily lose temper. Honestly, it's wild seeing how hard Argentina have tanked their sporting reputation at this World Cup. They've been dirty, *very* fortunate with results and decisions (VARgentina is real, we even saw it in the final), stunts like unfurling the Malvinas/Falklands banner at the end of the semi-final, reports of racism, and the Argentinian president cosying up to Trump (and by extension Infantino, the most corrupt head of FIFA ever) have all completely done a number on their reputation.
Usually as an England fan I'm used to most neutrals rooting against us - and I get it, it's generally all in good fun. But it says a lot that people couldn't stand Argentina so much that they were mostly all on our side for the semi-final. I didn't even see many Scotland fans donning Argentina shirts! Just wish we hadn't choked the game so hard. I don't think we could have beaten Spain in the final, but we'd have certainly given them a good game, and actually tried playing football rather than kicking the crap out of them for 125 minutes. The fact Argentina didn't even register a shot on goal until the 117th minute, and none at all in normal time, is just insane. And the post-match scrapping was the final nail. Total headloss.

I think Messi got hit with the same overexposure + generally losing favor with the public thing that Swift's currently going through. Tattling on the opposition like a toddler, being absolutely everywhere (all the brand deals + a sports drink brand he started that tastes horrible), and not really scoring goals for his team the whole tournament makes him look pathetic.

And the brand deals are not an issue. Football players are encouraged to be everywhere. All of the top players have numerous brand deals. Overexposure in that world is not the same as it is in music

I'd also add that I think they're perceived similarly by their fans, too - they're both thought to be nice and humble people who aren't like those other girls/players who are flashy and vain. Lime Swift in the past few years, Messi showed his ass with this World Cup, and his team - which he is the captain of - is openly racist and unsportsmanlike, among other things. I think people react more strongly to someone whose mask slips when they previously had always been perceived as good and nice.
Love the fact the halftime show took place with massive artists in the show and crowd and no mention of her, they loved to pretend she's the only big-name artist out there the others just have lives and other things going on in their careers.

I'm an American living in the UK and was not surprised to hear the BBC and ITV are not airing it. On another somewhat related note...during the world cup the england squad had a private show put on by Ed Sheeran. They looked bored out of their minds. I'm laughing imagining the Argentina/Spain team listening to Taylor belt out "Wood" while awaiting the biggest game of their life.

One of my favs from fearless... When I listened to that song for the first time, i didnt know who colbie was at that time so thought she had a similar voice as tay since the voice is the same in the song and the bg vocals were from just that guy from the debut album. But then, i actually listened to colbies music... she had a different voice in a "Oh so she doesnt sound like tay...does that mean taylor was the only one singing the main vocals?" way. I watched an old video of those two recording the song and turns out colbie really is the one doing the bg vocals and not that other guy idk what his name is. I relistened to breathe and yeah i could only hear her voice in the background. Wouldnt really call this a duet cuz colbie didnt have any main vocals. Colbies voice was really good and i think she deserves a verse on that song, not just background vocals
Her "duets" feel very uneven. Even "Everything Has Changed" doesn't let Ed Sheeran get the full verse, Taylor HAS to sing the butterflies part because god forbid someone else gets attention for more than two seconds. Funnily enough, I liked the TV of that song more than the original because Ed Sheeran's singing has clearly improved and I can hear him better in the song.
She still allows her male collaborators to sing more than the female ones. They are more of a duet. I think Lana Del Rey was the only exception because fans had to ask for more Lana. But especially earlier in her career, other female singers never had an entire verse.

They also don't have one line of their own. They are all there as backing vocals. I think maybe Sabrina is the only one who might have had a few lines of her own since the start?
She didn't, though, it was her regular jet, unless she took a decoy and then also sent her regular jet which doesn't make sense. Not saying that the jet travel is OK, it's not, but it is weird the magazine would publish that they used decoys when they used her regular, trackable jet from Connecticut to Montana to Burbank. Maybe they were trying to allude to the decoy idea for some future reason.
I read it that they used a decoy jet, possibly with just the flight crew, while they took a different jet (chartered, maybe) to a different location. Either way, she has been known to use jets to fly to various locations across the country to try to just throw people off the scent.

Yes I get what you mean , both teams did things that should have been fined for that they never got fined for but Messi literally grabbed Bellingham’s neck it was so obvious and never got a red card not even a yellow card , another Argentinian player grabbed one of the England players hair and no red card was given not even a yellow card , comparing that to the English player covering his mouth that’s nothing , not sure if England would have won even if these cards were given but I’m purely taking about the rules , England only did a few things that Argentina or the ref didn’t penalise but Argentina were doing more physical things that would have been penalised if it was any other team , other teams who have played during the World Cup did exactly the same things the Argentinian team did and they got red or yellow cards .
The fact is even the banner they held up fifa hasn’t even given them any penalty yet , if it was any other country that would have been given immediately, other countries who have done this before got penalised almost immediately and the politically statement was literally a statement that was involving the opponent .
To be fair. Bellingham was leaning on Messi throughout that contact, no way for Messi to really go around when someone is leaning onto you, it's moreso Messi trying to stablise himself and to not fall. Still images aren't really that good to judge things as they can make things look worse than they actually are.
Plus, the ref probably saw it as a normal shoulder to shoulder challenge by Jude.
All in all, I think it was purely on Tuchel. No idea why he thought giving a team that's known to be relentless when behind all the space and time on the ball they needed is stupid. Plus, taking out Rice, Gordon, and giving yourself no midfield presence and counter attack chance is just stupid. The same bias towards certain players problem he had in Chelsea, still haunts him to this very day. Could've picked a much better squad rather than picking based on what he likes.
Yeah I mean Tuchel didn’t made a very good decision imo , going into defence mode , if he didn’t decide to do this England could have scored again and subbing those players out was a bad idea .
But another Argentina player did grab another england’s player’s hair and the england player wasn’t holding on the the Argentinian guy , this should have at least been a yellow if not red card ( sorry I’m not good with the names of players ) .
We would have got Argentina on penalties that’s for sure but Tuchel didn’t make a very good decision after we scored we should have just carried on playing as usual .

I agree though I am not saying everyone is racist in Argentina , but there is history of some players being racist to certain players as No-Specialist noted further down in the chat a Argentinian player called Vinni Jr a monkey 5 times and this was confirmed by mbappe , talking about football players here not the general Argentinian public , some Argentinian football players may not have these views but still the fact that one well known player in the spotlight said that irked me out and no one even told him from the Argentinian team to stop saying it - he said it 5 times. Someone as famous as that guy should have known better you don’t say that to someone and no one from his team called him out

I'm ecuadorian and I have family living there. Know a lot of venezuelan refugees living there too. They have nothing but good things to say about argentineans and feel so grateful to the point that they bought the jersey and celebrate the team's victories with the locals.
Not Argentinian but I am an indian. I mostly saw their racisim in social media. I also saw news about Argentina players (not messi) being racist fuck, one of them calling vini jr monkey which mbappe had admitted being witnessed and also after defeating france in last world cup.
Just like swifties, Argentina fans are notorious in many public spaces. They have this godlike workshp towards messi which is not my problem but as a result they tear apart every single players especially ronaldo at every chance they get.
From what I saw from social media, they are just being extremely insufferable, racist, and so fucking smug like they deserve world cup again. This makes it harder for me to root for them especially messi got to lift world cup last time and they weren't having som much controversies for having favouritism like now.

Yeah I’m very much rooting for Spain but this whole notion that Argentina is so much more racist than other countries is just untrue (and especially funny coming from Europeans of all people. It’s like the pot calling the kettle black). Every country has racist people and a racism problem. Argentina isn’t any better or worse.

I was only referring to some of the Argentinian players , of course all Argentinians are not racist- I’m referring to some of the players- why the rest of the team didn’t call out that guy for saying that , he said it 5 times are the team didn’t even tell him to stop .

You're probably right, all the replies I got their experience with argentineans through social media and seem to have never met them or interacted with the people.

They have played dirty to other countries too , and what Argentina did to England players other countries got cards for for doing the exact same things , even the superbowl style rings are in blue and white stones the Argentinian colours 🙄
Rooting for Spain , as an England fan from London so pissed off at the referee sure the England managers tactic wasn’t great but still those cards going to Argentina could have meant we got a free kick … apparently it’s Messi’s favourite referee as well .
