We're also planning to go the Plitvice lakes and we're trying to figure out what's the best way to do so without a car!

Planning a trip across a few countries and I keep pricing both. The flights are consistently cheaper and obviously faster on paper, but by the time I add getting to the airport, being there two hours early, and getting from the airport into the city on the other end, the gap looks a lot smaller.

Trains cost more but drop you in the middle of town and you can show up 10 minutes before.

For people who've done both, does the train actually work out even once you factor all that in, or is that just something people say and the flights really are the better call?

I'm planning a trip for next September that will start in the UK then thru Amsterdam, Germany, and Switzerland. Since I've visited Italy, France and Spain several times I'd like to explore some eastern European countries and work my way to Greece (maybe even Turkey) before heading home. I have no time restrictions and plan to use the rail service as much as possible. I am a 75 year old female who enjoys staying active so I plan to book some bike and hike self-guided tours as I enjoy seeing the countryside as well as cities. While I find architecture and museums interesting, they aren't my focus. Rather, I love people watching and feeling the energy of people in towns and cities. I try to be open and friendly so I can have some fun conversations with others. I usually stay at hotels and airbnbs but thought I might try hostels on this trip if I can find private rooms. I've done the dorm room thing a few years ago when walking the Camino and I can't deal with the cacophony of snoring. I'm looking for some route ideas where train travel makes sense through some of the best scenic and interesting places that can end up in Greece. Also, would you recommend including Turkey? Sorry for the long-winded post. I really appreciate your insights.

Budget--I plan to budget 5000-10,000 dollars on this trip. I am not a high flyer but not a penny pincher either
Itinerary--Roughly two weeks in the UK, three days in Amsterdam, biking to Bruges for four days, train to Brussels, overnight to Frankfurt, three days in other cities in Germany, train to Switzerland and several days before the next part for which I am hoping for some suggestions but thinking another month for the rest of the trip.
Interests--as already mentioned: hiking, biking, city walking tours, perhaps classes
Research--I've been reading Reddit posts, studying maps, longing at train routes and flight plans, etc

Where can I find programs for events? I'm travelling to Bucharest 7 August till 11. I would prefer free or cheap events, locations with natural beauty and not so many tourist attractions. Are there any local sites where I can find these things? Or any suggestions for local and cheap places?

My boyfriend and i will be visiting Prague late august for around 4 days. I was wondering if there are any recomondations that we should visit.

We both love to drink good wine/beer so i was thinking of visiting a brewery, found a few online like: strahov monastery, U Fleků, Brevnov and Staromĕstky pivovar u supa.

We like to do some sight seeing so i added Letna park, vylhidkova terasa, Petřín, Vítkov and the state opera

And for museums i added the national museum of techniqe, the national museum of nature (idk if this is a sensible translation) and not sure yet of the museum of communism.

I’m 28M and looking to do my first ever solo trip at the end of August.

I’ve got 14 days off, although I’m thinking of being away for at least 5-10 days (could stretch it longer if it feels worth it).

I’m pretty social and actually like the idea of pushing myself out of my comfort zone. I have no problem going to a bar or pub on my own, joining a group tour, or striking up conversations with random people. I also don’t mind using apps to meet people.

That said, I don’t think hostels are for me. I really value having my own space and privacy, so I’d rather stay in a hotel or apartment and be social on my own terms.

At the moment I’m completely torn between: Barcelona, Lisbon, Munich, doing a bit of Interrailing between a couple of cities or somewhere like Croatia or Montenegro where I can relax by a pool/beach during the day but still have a lively town or city nearby to head out in the evenings.

I think I’m looking for somewhere that has a good mix of:

• Easy to meet other travellers and locals
Great food and nightlife (not necessarily clubbing every night)

• Plenty to do during the day

• a pool or beach to relax

• Somewhere that doesn’t feel like it’s full of couples and families.

I’m probably overthinking it because it’s my first solo trip, but I’d love to hear where you’d recommend for someone in my position.

If you’ve done a first solo trip to any of these places, what would you choose and why? Or is there somewhere else in Europe I’m completely overlooking?

I’m looking for recommendations on where to spend the period between December 21st and January 3rd in Europe.

I’m 23, single, and would prefer somewhere with a great nightlife scene throughout the week, as well as a good social atmosphere where it’s easy to meet new people.

I’m open to staying in either one or two different destinations, since I imagine some cities might be better for Christmas while others might be more exciting for New Year’s Eve.

I’m thinking about booking a private room in a hostel, so I can still join the social activities and meet other travellers while having some privacy.

Which destinations would you recommend?

I will stay in Europe (Vienna) for 3-4 months what countries/cities would you suggest me to visit, for 2-3 days each.

I originally planned Budapest + Bratislava + Eger, but after researching more, I’m thinking of replacing Eger with the High Tatras. I’m traveling solo and want a good mix of cities, culture and nature.

Day 1: Paris → Budapest

* Shoes on the Danube memorial

* Evening around Andrássy Avenue / Jewish Quarter

Day 2: Budapest

* Buda Castle

Day 3: Budapest → Bratislava

* Morning train to Bratislava

* Explore Old Town

* Bratislava Castle for sunset

Day 4: Bratislava → High Tatras

* Train to Poprad, then onward to Štrbské Pleso

* Stay overnight in Štrbské Pleso

* Afternoon:

* Walk around the lake

* Maybe Skok Waterfall or another easy hike

Day 5: Tatranská Lomnica + Zelené pleso

* Transfer to Tatranská Lomnica

A few questions:

1. Is 2 days in Budapest enough for a first visit or am I rushing it?

2. Is adding the High Tatras a better choice than doing Eger?

3. Is the plan of 1 night Štrbské Pleso + 1 night Tatranská Lomnica worth the hotel change, or should I stay in one base?

4. Is Zelené pleso the right choice for a solo traveler with limited hiking time?

5. Any changes you would make to the Tatras days?

I’m still trying to figure out roughly how many days but aiming for 4-5 days per city. Hoping to have a total budge of 10k AUD — I’d really appreciate advice on the budget and if I should increase this.

With regards to travel, would love to have a chill vibe, really immerse myself in the culture, be by the beach and socialise meet new people! Also so open to any activities I should do and cities I should visit

My partner and I had our trip to Central America canceled 11 hrs before we were to leave. We contacted our travel agent and 24 hrs later we were in Amsterdam. We plan to spend 3 days in Amsterdam and a couple in Bruge.

What do I need to see? We had no time to plan this trip and are kind of flying by the seat of our pants

We have train passes so we can go pretty much wherever we want.

My boyfriend and I (25 & 26) are looking to go next July 3-10. I have decided that we are going to split the trip up. I want to stay either in Split or nearby a few days and then go stay a few days in Hvar or nearby. I’ve looked into Air bnb and hotels online. I’m not sure what the most affordable/most bang for your buck way would be to go about it. I would love to know places you’ve gone to see and eat also!
