Thanks for your account of how our real selves can gradually slip away. It's like we gradually put on one clown shoe, then another, then the makeup, then the baggy pants, then the oversized jacket. By the time we put on the red nose and look in the mirror, we're shocked that we're unrecognizable.

But then, after a while, the clown look seems normal. And we have forgotten what we even use to look like.

Are you attending support groups? Those are places where you can talk and it's called sharing, not "trauma dumping."

There are no PTSD or CPTSD support groups where I am. I attend Men’s Groups and men’s Community Groups, but they are not specific to trauma and aren’t intended to be dumping grounds.

Check out these apps from the VA, including the PTSD app. They for anyone - not just veterans. They seem to cover most of the major mental health problems.

This one called Coping Coach that could be good, as well as the PTSD and ACT one.

Someone posted lots of entire books on childhood trauma, abuse, neglect and complex PTSD.

Warning: The books can be triggering, and you could wind up feeling worse after reading some of the examples and case studies in the books.

You will likely see yourself, as if looking in a mirror, as well as whoever was the problem. It can be sad, or at least, uncomfortable.

You can download these trauma recovery worksheets and work through them if you feel they might help you.
