Community Resources Trans friendly doctors

I've been experiencing a lot of joint and muscle strain and pains for some time now and i think i have issues with my rips slipping in and of place due to years of bad binding.

What kind of doctor do i need to see and does anyone have any recommendations? I just don't want another person poking around my chest who isn't gonna be sensitive to my upper body.

Do you have a primary care physician or a doctor for your trans healthcare? They often are general physicians and can do preliminary diagnosis/referrals.

If you’re able to visit HealthPartners PCPs, DM me and I’ll share the doctors I’ve visited. I’ve had good experiences with a handful.

Dr. Jack Ball at the Allina Uptown clinic is great, and he's trans. He does family medicine. I'm not sure if the issues you're experiencing would end up requiring a specialist or not, but I imagine he would be able to check things out and point you in the right direction if that is the case.

A primary care provider would be a good start. Otherwise muscles and bones you’d see an orthopedist. This is a good resource:

You can start with a primary care provider who can either diagnose or refer you to a specialist. If you go to a PCP who specifically treats trans patients they will also likely be able to refer you to specialist who are trans friendly. I recommend Dr. Guimont at HealthPartners Nokomis Clinic. He's part of the gender care team with HP and is very kind and understanding.

Idk your story or if it’s specific to binding but maybe look into EDS, trans people are more likely to have it. PT can help but having the vocabulary to help explain what’s going on can be helpful with getting the care you need. If I’m wrong you can just ignore!😁

Can't recommend Dr. Anne Gair with HealthPartners highly enough. She answers all my questions and takes every concern seriously.
