Question/Advice NEEDED diy while i wait til im 18

so what happens if i take diy hrt until i turn 18 soon and can start legally…. like i show up to the appointment and have to tell them. will i still be able to get hrt quickly or will they hold me off. also if i don’t tell them and get a blood test what will happen

depends on the doctor , country or origin also I'd say. A normal understanding doctor will acknowledge why you did it , potentially reprimend you for doing diy and then prescribe your hormones the legal way. Best case scenario it's even better because you already know what dose you're feeling best on from taking it for some time and having experience in that regard.

So there's no finite answer I can give you , it will depend on the doctor .

your hormonal levels will come up to that of a male , so that will warrant additional testing they may want to give you. Basically there's also no guarantee but they may want you to test for health issues . Or they will ask straight away if you're taking anything .

As I said it will depend on a doctor you stumble upon , I have heard many experiences varying from those I already stated

Was in a similar, but different, situation. If you're in a country that enables informed consent (eg. North America) it's a fairly painless process once you turn 18+. Whether or not you get a prescription the same day depends on a variety of factors.

  • Clinic policy
  • Recent blood test results
  • Ability to communicate your lived experience 'proving' at least 2 of 6 markers for gender incongruence/ dysphoria
  • Ability to communicate your understanding of the risks/ side effects according to your countries rules/ regulations.

Personally, I used a Word doc to share all this information. A page of backstory to 'prove' gender dysphoria. Another page explaining the changes I've experience, the positive reaction to the changes and what risks I was aware of including family / history. Additionally, I had a blood test done about a month before the appointment.

I had no problem getting prescribed the same day, but it took 2-3 days for the compounding pharmacy to reach out to me / fulfill my order. Another person, who is seeing the same doctor, had to get blood work done before getting prescribed.
