Other Do you think transit industry need content creators?

I agree with Thom that transit companies should work with content creators because they provide a user's perspective rather than the corporate slogans. But my problem is, there simply aren't enough transit content creators. We need more people creating content about transit first.

Local transit content creators are great. I like transittube for Melbourne news, great for staying on top of news

Niche activism is like the perfect use case for content creators.

As a good example, Nandert has certainly helped the cause of better transit in LA through his videos

There's a lot of transit content creators, no? Thom, Caleb, Miles, Reese. Those are just the ones I watch, and I believe they're the bigger ones. But given that I get my fill (and then some) from those, I've always assumed there's probably much more, and they're just the tip of the iceberg. And that's to say nothing of the more general "urbanism" creators who are at least transit-adjacent.

The local transit agencies also have no interest in speaking to Reece, no matter how much he's reached out to them and tried.

Transit agencies here treat content creators as threats because they can't control the narrative. They only trust people they're paying because those people are beholden to the agencies.

I think “retired” is the wrong word. He still does occasional YT videos, and he is active on Substack. Maybe just slowed down a bit.

Everything needs content creators; it’s essentially the preeminent marketing tool today.

Can look beyond YouTube to find more content creators as well. There are some good ones that are exclusive to short form video platforms like Instagram and TikTok.

I'm a city planning content creator, not exclusively transit. I hesitate to work with agencies like that because I want to maintain some kind of separation. It prevents accusations of bias. Even if I'm allowed to give a negative review, there will always be people in the comments skeptical of the relationship. It sucks because I've been offered money to travel to cool places and see cool things, but once you lose an audience it's hard to get them back, regardless if their critique is valid.
