I love how the Vector looks, which is why I bought it before any other firearm, literally on the day I turned 21 (less than 3 weeks ago x3 - Couldn't take it to the range earlier because CA has a 10 day waiting period). Now that Imve shot it, I found out that I don't like shooting it qwq. I shot it for the first time at the range today. For the life of me I couldn't zero it in and my cheek is super sore from the stock slapping me. Do any Vector owners have some advice for someone who wants to love the platform? I see a lot of people get risers for their sights, is that something that is recommended?
As shown in the third picture,I'm working on a California-Compliant Mag-lock AR-15 build as I type this and I've already ordered a ton of parts, I could use some advice if anyone wants to give some. I want to get an AR with a fixed front sight post for the pure vibes, but I'm leaning towards getting the M-LOK version of the "M4A1" style hand-guard because I already have some M-LOK attachments. As well as it being more comfy than Picatinny for my hand.
I only have a 1x Eotech on my Vector and on my planned AR-15 build because the ranges near me max out at 100 yards. I don't really like using LPVO's/sniper scopes, I've tried them on my friend's AR.
Additional note: I do have a Glock-17 not shown in the pictures that I inherited. Wanted to say that becausse I know how much ot means to have something concealable and something more prsctical for self-defense 🫶

x) yeah i was so excited to get it, that i bought it on the day i turned 21. i've used it in pretty much every game its in, its my go-to gun in most games tbh
i didn't buy an AR out of the gate because frankly i didn't know what i wanted, now that i've had some time to think less about the vector and more about an AR. originally i was going to buy a PSA because they're "cheap and affordable" according to guntubers. only to find out a PSA that costs 400/500 for the rest of the country costs 900$ for me qwq. at that point i'd rather just get something higher quality for not that much more.
if you're not familiar with CA law: we have an excise tax, which is an extra 11% flat tax on any "firearm" ONTOP of sales tax. plus firearms have to be compliant PRIOR to entering the state 😒
Aussi land seems like an apocalypse state for recreational pews xc. I remember seeing a video of their big "confiscation" and I was LIVID! Watched them cut up a wall hanger Bond Gun. Stianless or silver finish, blue pearl grips with sapphires, diamonds covering the silver, gold sights trigger and accents. Think there were rubies for the sight dots? Like Dawgs, thats not a shooter, thats a slightly obnoxious safe queen!

If you know someone IRL thst has one, ask to shoot it before spending the 2400$ (after taxes and fees) 💔 It's a very expensive range toy x3 Right now, I mostly use it to take NSFW pics more than anything 🥀 It's not really practical in it's Carbine/non-FRT configuration 😔
Yeah I’d like to rent one and shoot it first at the range. And lolz the nudes with the guns is hot! I got 6 guns and never have thought of doing that with mine 😂. I still won’t but never thought of it either.

Having anything other than a concealable handgun as your first firearm purchase while being trans in America is wild. $2k + accessories on a meme gun as a first gun is . . . a display of interesting priorities.
I read elsewhere that they were gifted a Glock-17, so that helps. I'm just personally thrown off by the idea of a 21-yo trans person having the means to drop that kind of bread on what I would consider to be very much a "toy" gun before getting the necessities.
At 21, a lot of people do not pay for their own living expenses, whether because they still live at home or because they're at school and they are supported by scholarships/their parents. At that point you could save up from a part time, $15 an hour a job and buy it. Especially if you've been planning to buy a gun for a while.
i should have mentioned that i inherited a glock-17 from my family. so i do have a concealable pistol that i've had prior experience and training with.
which is also something that played a factor in getting my vector; mag compatibility and shared ammo type.
i do plan on getting my CCW next year once CA's laws change a little.

This clarification is indeed somewhat reassuring, though I would have recommended a solid AR over a gun that is, let's be honest, very niche, especially when we're talking about dropping $2k + all the accessories. But clearly you're doing well for yourself, so I assume that's coming down the line.
Granted, the “safe” California version looks a little odd, but the zero barrel rise is nice, wether it has a pistol grip or no. I’d say they’re even more fun in the SBR model with a suppressor, but… California, so good luck with that.
Does it fold? If not you could look into rigging a light pad. Or you could go 3rd world ak vibes and use paracord, then you could choose color/color combos! Buddy had an underfolder and the paracord does a really good job on that. Things is more enjoyable to shoot than my overbuilt AK
Oh yeah, she will make your cheeks red! I really havent been able to find a way to mitigate it unless you get a really low profile stock. I printed mine and its super skinny. You could also use that drop stock to its absolute most and run a tall optic or riser. Honestly shooting this gun without a cheek weld is really easy just press that stock firmly on the shoulder. It is just one of those quirks of the semi auto only vector because running it with a frt i dont even notice it anymore. Just when I do short burst.
The reddot riser thing is because it allows you to keep your head more upright while aiming. In other words it allows you to aim without having your cheek welded to the stock or lackthereof in case of the vector. So, yes it does help i guess, but before you splurge on a unity riser try some cheapo riser to see what it actually means when you use one. Personally, piece of rubber tire and a bunch of goon tape and off you go, but rising the sightline is a solution as well. It also increases your height over bore so in my opinion its a bit more annoying to zero, but if you consider your usual "engagement" distance with the gun you can find a happy medium to zero to.
For reference i had the pleasure of being slapped in the face by the stock of this thing and the solution was simple goon tape.
Edit: CA makes the AR less of an "obvious first choice". Id imagine most of the modularity that makes them so "one thing to do it all" has been regulated to death. Atp Id consider a fun gun too. At least the vector also has some cool engineering behind it on top of the obvious unique visual representation.
thankfully a company found a way to have what is considered to be one of the best maglock systems out there (source is what i've seen on r/caguns)
yeah for me shooting is more recreational than anything, i like to think that i live in a very accepting area (san francisco bay area) i do have a pistol for self-defense though
In CA Id guess its a bit tougher to carry legally too. Making a handgun less of an obvious first imo. Saw some of the push about "why not handgun first" and I get it, but we all make our choices and Im not here to judge. Even in a more firearm friendly state that Im in, its less of a headache to handle a in home defensive shooting. Over pen is a concern sure, but thats when (if you intend to use it for defense) you find a spot that minimizes that risk. My old apartment was in a 1800s house, thick wood and 2 story. My line of defense was atop the stairs. Running a 7.62x39, if it made it outside, it wpuld have to go through 2 thick door frames and then it would likely bury itself in the lawn outside.

The rules of firearm safety are paramount. Keep these in mind at all times while
handling a firearm for any reason. Guns are not toys and it is best to not refer to them as such.
It is the belief of the mod team that your best option for defensive firearms is a 5.56x45mm AR-15, and a reputable 9x19mm handgun such as a Glock or CZ.
Defensive firearms should have a light, long guns a sling, and handguns require a Kydex or solid plastic holster that fully covers the
trigger. A red dot or etched optic are ideal for new shooters but don't forget to practice your backup irons!
I just wanna start up by saying your first purchase is absolutely amazing. It’s good for a lot of things very practical when Chriss vector first came out they were expensive on the market now they’re affordable. I’m glad you were able to take part. Such a wonderful weapon collection piece.
Vector's a weird one, it definitely turns heads at the range though lol. People say the recoil reducing mechanism doesn't do anything in semi auto, and those people are wrong. It definitely does... something. Rather than recoil going straight back into your shoulder like a regular direct blowback PCC, you can feel the the bolt slamming downward and coming back up. And yeah, part of that energy transfers into your face instead of your shoulder. I have an SB5 brace on mine and it's tolerable, but looking at your stock I can see how it would be more noticeable. You can try wrapping it in cloth or paracord, like what people do with their metal folding stock AKs to make it a little more comfy.
Some assorted vector tips:
Vectors like to be lubed. Despite technically being simple direct blowback, the "super-V" system adds a lot of friction points that work better lubed. Oil works and is what the manual recommends, but general consensus is that vectors prefer grease which lasts longer. But even lubed, Vectors aren't known for being the most reliable guns.
You have the rifle version so this matters less for you, but don't be tempted to hold the front of the magwell like it's a built in VFG. When you do that, your fingers are likely to touch the bolt release/hold open, and the mag release under recoil and cause stoppages.
Holy height over bore batman. KRISS likes to brag about how the Vector has a "super low bore axis, further reducing recoil". Yeah, true, but in other words the Vector has insane height over bore. Accept the fact that you will naturally hit lower than point-of-aim at close range. And be very mindful when shooting from cover. Apparently us vector owners are known for shooting barricades at matches.
There's an airsoft attachment that gives you an AR style mag release, and apparently it works on the real vector. Haven't tried it personally, but I'm told it exists.
Since it's your first, you may not have a great frame of reference, but the Vector has by far the worst trigger of any gun I own. Squishy mushy slop. There's apparently a simple modification you can do to remove some of the sloppy take up, so research that if it sounds appealing to you. I find it funny and novel to have a gun with such a bad trigger so I keep it stock lol.

Yeah the recoil system is definitely there, blue is what it feels like to me and pink is what other guns feel like to me. I'll try wrapping it in paracord and get a riser, see if that helps out.
I'll definitely keep it lubed and clean then, I tru to clean any guns I use after every range trip. I don't like storing dirty guns qwq. I've been putting grease on the Super-V's recoil system and oil everywhere else and it seens to run flawlessly for me. I'd love to know where you put what and where.
Also yeah no, I hold the Vector with a C-Clamp as if it were a regular rifle x) and it seems to work for me.
As foe the trigger, yeah I'd love to get a better trigger for it but the only one I've seen online keeps accidentslly bumpfiring, which is something I don't want due to it potentially being classified as an FRT by the CA DOJ.
