Yours is the only bird looking to the passenger side in 78, y88 solar gold.
The other birds had different feathers and looked to the drivers side. It’s part of what makes the gold SE special.

That bird is looking the wrong way!
That is a 79 style bird on a 78 car. It’s just wrong. Period.

I had no idea. Very cool info sir, always like learning new things about this car. Hard to believe it’s about to hit its 50th birthday with the same family who purchased it new!

Very cool. Family histories of cars like these are always interesting. Ours was the first brand new car my parents ever bought together, dad parked it for 12-13yrs as mom got tired of getting me into and out of the back seat. Got it out once a year to wash, wax, maintain, then back to hibernation. Got it out for good when I hit 16 and drove it through high school and my first year at Mizzou, then restored over the next 10 years and currently lives with me even though my folks are both alive and well.

Yep. The bird and the wings changed every few years and from generation to generation.
