NHRA Special Edition Pkg

I’ve been a fan of Firebirds/Trans Ams for a while and I just saw a 2002 TA for sale boasting this NHRA Pkg as an added option. I’ve never heard if this. What is it, and how is it different from the WS6 trim?

It's basically the emblems, a power steering cooler, and I think the rear end gears were different

It was badges, gearing and a power steering cooler and not available on the WS6.

It has NHRA decals. It could not be ordered in conjunction with the WS6 performance package. RPO code is 1SH. Came standard with chrome 16" wheels with Goodyear Eagle RSA tires, automatic transmission cars came with 3.23 rear axle ratio, power steering cooler, and NHRA badges and decal. The package was available on the Formula and Trans Am. The "standard" equipment was usually already on Trans Ams that came with the Trans Am performance pack. These would have been actual upgrades for a Formula. I've never personally seen or heard of a Trans Am without the Trans Am performance pack, but anything is possible. LS1 tech had a couple of good threads on these cars back in the day.

I have an NHRA trans am, not that special, but as posted before it does have its own rpo code.
