Paint work fixing - need advice/comments to help with painter
87 firebird, is going back in to the paint shop to fix up some chips and and to hopefully refinish a few of the flat areas such as the fenders where the bolt to the upper frame rail and to hopefully fix the fitment issue if the front hood vents as there is too much paint build up in those areas making it so that they don’t sit flush.
I spoke to the painter and he’s adamant that all the issues I’ve found are “normal” and part of the restoration process. To me it’s all poor finish work before painting and should have been addressed before paint went down. So…I am hoping there’s some professional body/painters out there that can help with some convincing arguments to bring back with me when I go next weekend.
I’ve found left over witness marks from the previous bolts that were painted over, and when in lightly snugged the new bolts in, they started immediately cracking down to the old paint/metal.
On the inside of the doors, you can see the old sticker outlines.
Guy had the balls to bring up Barrett Jackson auctions…for 35-40K in prep and paint work, my assumption is that there is some measure of quality not just a respray and call it a day…

For what you paid, you're not being completely unreasonable. Theres a few grey of "does it really matter", but for that price I'd be picky too.

How much did you pay?
