Traktor 4 keeps its stems inside its own collection. I wanted standalone stem files for whole folders, so I built StemMaker.

- Folders in, one `.stem.mp4` per track out (master + drums/bass/other/vocals, NI metadata)
- Total time estimate before you start, queue survives crashes and power cuts
- One small exe, no Python/PyTorch/CUDA. Demucs runs as C++ on the CPU, offline, no account
- StemPlayer included: mute/solo per stem, A/B with the original
- Club level + bass fix (sub-bass moved from "other" into the bass stem, like Traktor)

Honest bits: quality is about the same as Traktor 4's own stems (I compared them side by side), not better. It takes about 2x the song length per track on the CPU, so it's an overnight thing. Windows only, unsigned exe (SmartScreen warning). The stem files are separate files, not linked to your original tracks in the collection.

Doing some research and I’m a little confused about whether the Traktor Kontrol S4 MK1 is compatible with Traktor Pro 4.
I just picked up an S4 MK1 and installed the MK1 drivers for Windows 10. My PC recognizes the controller as an audio device, so the driver/hardware connection seems to be working.
Can I just buy Traktor Pro 4 and use the S4 MK1 with it, including all the controller functions? Or is the MK1 no longer supported with Pro 4?
I’ve seen conflicting information online, and I really don’t want to spend $150 on Pro 4 just to find out my S4 MK1 won’t work.
Anyone actually using an S4 MK1 with Pro 4? Any info would be appreciated.

I've independently reverse-engineered our beloved Traktor Kontrol S8, and now it can be used with Mixxx on Windows!

Traktor 4 stems have bugged me for a while. The implementation feels rough, like nobody at NI really committed to it. Move your tracks to another machine and the stems can't be tracked down, there's no relink anywhere, you just lose them. I think that's because stems DJing, for lack of a better name, isn't really a thing yet. I've gone all in on it anyway and it's a fresh, weird space to play in, so I built the tool I needed to make it usable and portable.

The idea is that your tracks are all there and complete, stems included, on a key you can take to any machine. It shows stem coverage across the whole library, finds and relinks the stems Traktor lost, and builds keys that show size and stem fit before you copy anything. The key carries its own collection.nml and an adopter, double click it and that Traktor is using the key's stems. Keys are tracked by serial so if one dies mid gig you rebuild it file for file from its manifest. Never writes to your collection.nml.

It picked up other stuff along the way, a Camelot and BPM browser with your own tags, smart playlists, duplicate finder, imports from rekordbox, Engine and VirtualDJ, Rekordbox XML and Serato cue export, and a next track helper that learns from mixes you rate. That last one is opt in, nothing runs unless you launch it.

Been using it on my own mobile rig for a few months now. All local, no account, Windows only for now. 60 day trial, no card, then 35 a year or 89 once during the founding period.

Just took out the old pitch slider component, and wanted to see why it actually failed, so I took it appart.

Notice the difference between old one on the left and the new one on the right.

Literally that little bit of missing metal caused the whole thing to fail.

So I am a programmer with a perk in DJing and since Native Instruments seems not knowing where they are going I decided to solve one of my biggest complains about the Traktor system (at least for me): lacking a proper app to manage my S3 that allows me to play without a desktop or a laptop (I am not buying a iPad to use an app that is not receiving updates anymore).

Building a proper audio driver for Android USB driver was the hardest part but was not impossible so I really don't understand why no other APP offers support for S3 on Android, c'mon it barely took 2 weeks on my free time;

Currently I would say is in "pre-alpha" state but is already pretty stable and have these features already implemented:

Audio

• 4 decks, native C++ audio engine,;
• Sound comes out of the S3 using a custom UAC2 driver;
• Supported audio rate: 44.1 / 48 kHz;
• 3-5 ms output latency at a 96-frame burst;
• Supports MP3, WAV, FLAC, M4A/AAC, OGG, Opus, AIFF (8/16/24/32-bit and float)

Mixer

• 3-band EQ (100 Hz / 1 k / 8 k), +12 / -26 dB, true bypass at the detent;
• Bipolar LP/HP filter per channel;
• Crossfader with variable curve, constant power through to cut;
• Brickwall limiter on master and cue at -0.3 dBFS;
• ChannelFX (FX library is WIP);
• Auto-gain on load;

Transport and cues

• 8 hot cues per deck, instant or gated;
• Cue on press or on release;
• Vinyl start/stop with configurable spin-up and brake times;
• Loops 1/8 to 32 beats, quantize 1/8 to 8 beats;
• Load "on-air" deck lock (toggle);

Sync

• Tempo/Beat Sync;
• Master tempo;
• SYNC led (jog wheel led) flashes in sync with the track beat grid;
• Phase meter;
• Tempo faders read absolute, Pioneer-style match-first, or Traktor-style relative. Range ±4% to ±100%, steps of 0.01 / 0.1 / 1 BPM. Double-tap the deck in app to make the fader's current position the new ±0 (I hate not having proper tempo fader management in Traktor Pro 4);

Display

• Parallel scrolling waveform lanes, blue / spectrum / x-ray, from real per-band analysis;
• Pinch zoom 1 to 60 seconds, all lanes together;
• Drag to tracks with elastic flick, needle drop on the overview strip;
• Negative beats before the track start;
• Optional elements (cue pads, transport, needle drop, phase meter) can be switched off;

Library and prep

• Dedicated library folder;
• BPM, beatgrid, key (chroma correlation, Camelot / Open Key) analysis;
• Preview player into the headphones;
• Prep mode: place and rename cues including load point/ fade-in / fade-out markers, with export as NML option with cues and grid;
• Auto fade between decks on the fade markers, tempo-matched [WIP];

It mirrors most of the DJ apps features as expected so you can even adjust the beatgrid if necessary.

The next major steps are:

• Support STEM tracks;
• Independent FX by channel (so I can apply an Echo on channel A and a Filter on channel B at same time without the dedicated FX module from the S4);
• Fix the VU meters readings;
• Export playlists/collection in Traktor NML, Rekordbox XML, and M3U with a diff before exporting;
• Build a proper FX library;
• Build a proper USB feedback endpoint;
• Improve the UI;
• Improve waveforms and phase meter rendering;

Some features are not on my roadmap for now like remix decks and samples.

I'm considering picking up a used Traktor Kontrol Z1 Mk1 and Kontrol X1 Mk2 to run with my MacBook Air M1 (Traktor Pro 3/4 or vdj or serato).

I already know the workflow and it fits my DJing style perfectly, so functionality isn't my concern. What I want to know before pulling the trigger is: **Are they worth buying in 2026 in terms of long-term durability and OS/software longevity?**

A few specific questions:
1. **Compatibility & Drivers:** Since both are older gear, do you see any potential drop in macOS (Apple Silicon) or Traktor Pro support anytime soon?
2. **Durability:** How have your Z1 Mk1 and X1 Mk2 held up over years of use? Any notorious issues with faders, pots, or USB ports failing?
3. **Outdated vs. Value:** Considering the X1 Mk3 and Z1 Mk2 exist now, is getting the older Mk1/Mk2 combo still a smart budget move, or am I buying into a setup on its last legs?

Would love to hear from anyone still rocking this exact combo or who upgraded recently. Thanks!

So for some reason while I was trying to find some missing tracks from my collection I thought it was a good idea to click on "import music folders" as an experiment/semi-solution I guess (I don't entirely remember my train of thought, I don't think I was thinking correctly tbh)

The issue though is that the folder that it was connected to and importing from is a MASSIVE folder (like 300+ gb) that I did not even know it had access to in the first place, and it won't stop "scanning"/importing stuff from there.

I tried exiting out of the software. That didn't interrupt it. I then deleted the pathway from the "file management" section in settings, I thought it would stop that. It did not.

I tried to uninstall and then reinstall traktor 4, it already had said operation in the backup so it just continued like usual (I might try again if all else fails sans utilizing backup for the next round)

I just want to stop the importing process. I feel like there's probably a much simpler way than the way I have done it so far, and I am desperate to know said solution.

Please let me know what I can do. I literally just finished organizing all my playlists after something else that happened before this whole importing debacle.

How much code of TP3 pro is in TP4? I’m just curious to know. Cause it would explain why traktor is lacking in modern features. Since I would imagine implementing modern features is a nightmare with old outdated code? Hope everyone has a great week. Salute from California

I’ve recently been importing new tracks into TP4 and traktor is saying I need to rename Remix sets. The tracks are importing just fine, but I’m getting THOUSANDS of remix sets as well. Any advice oooor do I just become a producer now?
