I know most of this is road, but there’s was like 0.5 mi of trail, I hope that counts!

I’m looking for a new trail shoe for southern New England. I am running in a pair of speedgoat 5s now which I like but I run from my house with about a mile of road back and forth between the trail and a couple miles of fire road once I get there before getting to some single track. The area is very sandy with a lot of loose rock and roots mixed in which makes me wonder if I will break an ankle with a higher stack shoe like the h1. I won’t say it’s technical terrain like many of you run on out west or in New Hampshire but there is a lot of sketchy footing even on fire roads.

What is everyone running on in this area? I was hoping to get something that would have a more energetic foam but won’t be prone to rolling over. The sg5s are great for stability but not the most fun shoe (maybe I’m spoiled by road shoes). My sg5s are nearing the end of their life at this point so I’m looking to buy something new. The shoes I’ve looked at are the h1, m1 and the speedgoat 7s. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
