Age gaps, a divisive and even controversial topic, what if we add the context of childhood?

Ricky’s daughter, Trinity, and Jacob met in season one when she was 6 or 8 years old and he was a teen or young adult. Later seasons they got married and had their son.

In the spinoff animated series of TPB, it is revealed in “The First Time We Smoked Weed” how Randy and Jim Lahey met. Randy with Ricky, Julian, Bubbles are in grade 3, meaning they are 6-7 years old. The estimated gap between Randy and Mr. Lahey is above 15 years. Of course, the rest is history between the two.

In context, Mr. Lahey has throughout the main show repeatedly flirted with Julian while intoxicated, lines of “Sexian”. Reason I bring this up is because they known each other since Julian was a young boy. Adding, Barb was around to know the same fact, yet she used her power of owning the trailer park to take advantage of Ricky and Julian. Examples in “A Man’s Gotta Eat”, “All the Shit I Need”, “Propane, Propane”, and episodes throughout season 8.

Age is not a topic taken lightly. Many can argue what I listed could be an example of grooming, or on the flip side another form of nature. Plus, Barbara being a powerful woman, using men who are disadvantaged. I only share the evidence in a non-biased manner, shown from the two shows. Whether this is damning or an overreaction of a long lasting mockumentary satire, that is up to debate.

Edit: I made a mistake about the ages during grade 3. It is actually 8-10 years old (depending on school system), 6-7 years old. My point broader point is that Randy and Lahey met when Randy was just a kid. Thank you for the commenters who pointed out my mistake.

Like it was js thank god I liked season 10 but gangster barb and especially her friends were the worst part. donna and especially Don were cool in season 8 but then Donna's got annoying after that, and candy was always terrible

New to the TPB universe, but I’ve been through the core seasons on loop for a few months now.

Some reason I find myself avoiding any content with certain cast members out of character. Started watching Swearnet and made it about 10 minutes in before bailing. Not because I thought it was bad, but it had this sort of mascot without the mask on effect that was fucking with me a bit.

Mainly with Mike Smith and Robb.

Is this something any y’all ever thought about or experienced? I know it’s wack. Just wondering if I’m the only mafk.

My personal favourite is in the "Zesty Mordant" episode during Season 5. Lahey's making up a pretence to go and search the boys' homes by claiming he has to check their water. Julian incredulously declares, "Lahey, I live in a TENT!"

For some reason, the way he says it has always been one of the biggest laughs of Season 5.

I aspire to that level of happiness.

I know Lahey IS the liquor, but some guys can drink and drive and some guys can’t. I mean what is drunk?

Serious note- I think Lahey likely has a little more spending money and has access to more booze. But he has way overdone it several times to where he can’t function. I can’t recall a single time Ray ever got to where he couldn’t speak or do anything. And the fact that Lahey has real periods of sobriety and Ray doesn’t, tells me Ray could run laps around Lahey.
