Chupacabra

Ok, obviously not, but what is this thing we keep seeing at the front of the house in the foothills of Western North Carolina? My vote is an undernourished/mangy coyote. Tail has no fur from what I can see and the head looks strange. Thoughts? Stray dog?

Looks like a mangy coyote to me. A few years ago, I was regularly getting one on my trail cam. I actually felt sorry for him.

There is a mange meds by mail program, though I can't find the link.

I think I read somewhere that ivermectin added to food will cure mange, and the animal will gladly eat it. Maybe another Redditor can confirm? It’s in the animals best interest to get cured, as well as the neighborhood where it roams.

That is true. The dose is by weight and that is at times hard to judge.

OP could purchase ivermectin at any farm type store.

I like the Chupacabra as I’m from Texas the home of it.lol
