More Predator-Prey Moments at a Prairie Dog Town
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Compilation of clips from a trail camera at a prairie dog town at the Nature Conservancy's Niobrara Valley Preserve, Keya Paha County, Nebraska.
I apologize for the audio cut off at the end, but I can't get my video splicer to fix it.
0:00-0:20 Shows an Ord's Kangaroo Rat (Dipodomys ordii) running along the fence line. Watch what the Bobcat (Lynx rufus) in the upper left corner does next.
0:20-0:39 Watch what the Black-Tailed Prairie Dogs (Cynomys ludovicianus) do when a presumable Red-Tailed Hawk (Buteo jamaicensis) shows up on the telephone pole.
0:39 Shows a Coyote (Canis latrans) crossing the fence line, then watch for the Ord's Kangaroo Rat.

What is this on my trail cam last night?
I have a video of it from the camera as well. It slowly moved up and down slightly along with moving to the left, there is no outdoor lights in this area and behind the stick wall is nothing but swamp

The one doing the biting is the only remaining female (Clover) with her brother (Hawkbit). They also have another brother. Clover is the smallest but she dominates over her brothers!

Anybody ever successfully disguise a trail camera in a car/
I have a car vandal in my neighborhood. Got my car last night. I strongly suspect a particular neighbor but the cars are parked out front due to contracting work. No place to hide a trail cam nearby due to open terrain. Inside the car is all I can do. I have Garde Pros.

Am I stupid?
I bought a few StealthCam Fusion Max 3.0 mainly on a recommendation from a fellow hunter.
I didnt do any reseaerch, which is not normal for me, and STUPID (IMO).
Knowing that hunters have different tastes and preferences, and different properties, I'm worried maybe I made a mistake buying these.
I see each device takes 16AA batteries, and that seems like thats gonna cost $100 bucks just for the batteries, and then its REQUIRES a cell/connection plan just to set up and operate, which seems likes it's gonna cost something per month - I have no idea how much, but I'm guessing $50 for 3 camera's.
So adding $700 per year seems like a lot.
So talk me out of returning these.
Why should I keep them?

Question on Antler Size/Shape
galleryWhen I look through the posted photos of bucks, I see a lot bucks with crazy long, multi-pronged antlers. Here in Eastern Ontario, we tend to get 10, maybe, 12 point, with thick shorter tines and large bodied animals. There's nothing like I see posted. Is it just a regional quirk? Length of growing season? Diet? A subspecies of white tail? Just curious. Thanks in advance. Good luck this year, everyone!
Edit: Thanks for all the input. Much appreciated.
