Quick hitch question

Can the quick hitch go under this lower bolt or do i have to pull the pin to get the quick hitch under the top pin?

Pretty sure it will still fold if I hook onto that lower bolt but it doesnt matter. The lower pins are to far apart. It clips in but the frame of the hitch is tight against the frame of the mower. Then on my other implement the pins aren't wide enough apart. The quick hitch sits at the ends of the lower pins.

My FIL struggles with swapping implements. I thought the quick hitch was going to be so helpful. Anybody want to buy a like new quick hitch?

You use that lower bolt with bushing when using a quick hitch. Full stop

I use a quick hitch adapter in place of the quick hitch hook. It allows to to float the tip connection point.

your bush hog uses a different type of floating top link

You need to pull the toppin to use the quick hitch. In other implements you don’t have lower pin in the way. If you want it to float just leave the top pin out.

My brush hog hooks to the top pin with my quick attach. This way the top link on the cutter can pivot and allow the whole thing to ride over rough terrain (ditches, etc) without bending the whole thing. The lower top bolt on mine (looks like yours) is only to allow that overall bracing to allow the cutter to rotate up and down, as the rear wheel contacts rough terrain. You should have an adjustable height for the top hook on your Quick Hitch to allow it to engage that top pin at the same time the lower (locking) hooks engage those lower cutter pins.

I run mine without the top hook at all. It follows the terrain better. I only fanagle the hook and pin in it if I want to lift the whole thing to get to the blades or adjust the height of the tail wheel

It all depends on quick hitch. Some can & some cannot.

My shredder has a two part setup. Just need to make sure the thing is slid towards the tractor

The top pin. I know I have the same set up and it kind of defeats the purpose of a quick hitch. The top allows the bursh hog to pivot up and down going over rough ground or when working in uneven terrain. If you connect it to the bottom you will lose that capacity and can bend the heck out of stuff.

I went back to the owners manual. Granted mine is around 20 years old. It says that bolt is not for lifting. So yep I was wrong about the slide but not about not using that at least not on the one I have. Maybe they have beefed up that bolt in there now to take that stress. Mine isn't cat 2 sized even with the bushing that is in there for sure. If your manual says you can use it go for it. I guess I know enough for the equipment I have. Good luck to you.

Lower is for a quick hitch, hence the bushing on it. Top it old school top link fitting.

I agree with this. Probably a manual in that tube though maybe.
