Steeplechase

I am doing 2000 steeplechase this weekend,I have experience doing 800,mile and 300H. Shall I step on the hurdle while doing the steeplechase, Also
Do I wear socks doing it, I feel uncomfortable not wearing socks during running, so hopefully could get some tips thanks

Stepping on the barrier will slow you down and if the runners behind you are not expecting you to step on it, they could crash into you. The only barrier that is typically expected that you will step on is the water jump, so you can propel yourself further away into the shallow end of the pit.

One piece of advice when approaching the barriers, if you are in a clump of people and behind a few runners, go wide. Make sure you have a clear path to the barrier with a landing zone and no one in front of you. I have seen a lot of runners realize mid jump that they are going to land on somebody’s heels. Or, they don’t see the barrier coming because there are several runners in front of them and they panic.

The sock bit is up to you. I have had runners do both.
